Ip going out or something else

Ditto on the lift pump sucking air. Based upon the information that air was coming out of your Shrader valve upon initial bleeding after it stalled out. "Checked the Shrader valve an just got air out so turned it over until just fuel ran out and with a small shot of ether it fired off an had to...

Ip going out or something else

I'm thinking a fuel gauge at the filter might be pretty handy at his point. Maybe a clear piece of hose temporarily installed in line somewhere to watch the fuel flow.

    7.3 idi coolant issues

Two thoughts here. First thought, could the hose to the overflow bottle be plugged completely? Second thought, could the water pump be bad with no noticeable coolant flow with the cap off?

    Manual GP glow time

I found this in some Ford service information. It appears to me the right column is the appropriate times the glow plugs can be on at a particular temperature. Of course, you would only want them on as long as needed to get the engine running.

Problems with my new injectors very frustrating

How a problem is resolved usually says more about the company than anything else. It sounds like Mel is first class.

7.3 IDI Turbo Knock -> Engine Pull and Rebuild

Thanks for sharing. There's no shame in a mistake or two. As long as we gleaned something from it. I'm glad you made it safe.

    Glow plug connectors-really good ones

Another problem with the 7.3 and 6.0 PS harnesses is the gauge of the wire. It is a much lighter gauge. I believe the PS glow plugs draw a lot less current than the IDI glow plugs. PS resistance is much higher if tested with an ohm meter Which equals less current. which equals smaller wire.

    GlowPlug Question

I tested new Motorcraft glow plugs before installation and they were about 3ohms. I am hooked up with a push button and anticipate long life. The controller will cycle the glow plugs off and on even after the engine has started. I can't picture that to be ideal for glow plug longevity.

    Powerstroke Replacement

Set the Timing on the truck today. It was set at 3 degrees BTDC. The specification is 8.2 +- 2.0 I set it at 9.3ish. Definitely sounds better. I haven't driven it yet, but I feel like it will be an improvement. The timing meter worked well with the magnetic pickup as well as two different timing...

To clarify, there is nothing wrong with the timing unit that the probe does not fit all the way into the tube/hole. There is something wrong on my truck. I have to find a way to remove the ridge.

    1986 F-250 OEM Radio Wiring

Salvage yard will be your best option. probably any Ford vehicle of that era would work. I'm guessing you are trying to keep the stock appearance of the truck.

    Ferret 765

I actually bought one. It came the other day. I messed around with it a little. I couldn't get the magnetic probe down in the timing tube/hole far enough to work because of a ridge or lip at the bottom of the tube. I did use the timing light which worked ok. It would be nice if it was a little...

    Powerstroke Replacement

Strap wrench to turn the pump just might work. I've got a Snap-on strap wrench from a million years ago that just might work. I can't even remember why I bought it.

    Powerstroke Replacement

Yes, I managed that myself removing the pump on the donor truck last night. My good truck I need to set the timing on so I thought it would be a little easier with the correct wrench.
