    Anybody have a good ear,,

Tank was just topped off and had just had an oil change a few hours prior. I backed timing off 1/2 dime's thickness after I took that picture and leaving it there until timed with equipment. She ran cool like she always had this morning, staying on the "O". Next check I'll get the timing...

Thank you!! I'll have her timed correctly soon, I took your advice and backed her down a skosh.

    Anybody have a good ear,,

I'll have it timed within the next 2 weeks. I know my factory temp gauge isn't accurate but she ran warmer today than what it's normally reading. Typically I'm at the "O" and today was up at the "M" with the needle leaning towards the "A" Has anybody using a real temp gauge ever seen temps...

    Anybody have a good ear,,

Im curious to, I'm guessing I'm slightly retarded...ha ha. About to roll out and take my babies to the park, I'll let ya know. I had calculated my rpm @ 60mph to be at 2,250rpm in 4th gear, and 1,850rpm at 50mph. Icanfixall, that sound like a hell of a set up!! I'll research it so if I do...

    Anybody have a good ear,,

I sure don't, good looking tach though. I've read people have swapped for a 7.3 Injection Pump housing for that tach sensor

Appreciate you watching the videos and commenting. I had adjusted the plunger and when trucks warm I had left about a credit card's thickness between the throttle lever and the plunger head, I need to get a tach installed eventually

    Anybody have a good ear,,

I had been reading the forum for a while and saw that he offers that service. I'll shoot him a PM. And I did the same thing as you had for the last few weeks, watching mileage and would drive it at a steady speed/rpm while cold advance was on to monitor the change in clatter as it disengages...

    Anybody have a good ear,,

Thanks it's an old but lightly used 8274!! Advanced that timing slightly and turned up the idle speed, it did sound kind of flat earlier. If anybody around Houston or within 200miles of it knows who has timing equipment I'll make it worth their time to help me. I'll leave her where it's at...

    Anybody have a good ear,,

Cold idle advance and high idle solenoid work, I had just retarded it to far and turned down the idle to far. I'll get equipment on her, sucks flying blind. Was afraid I was to far advance before. Because after the advance would kick off while I was driving the engine would only have slightly...

    Anybody have a good ear,,

My 83 had a new Oregon Fuel Injection pump, Delphi BB code injectors, return lines, lift pump, solid state glow plus controller and motorcraft GP's. I had made a slight timing adjustment retarding it 1/2 a dime's thickness (She's timed by ear) and won't be getting equipment for her for about...

    In retrospect,,,,,,

How many miles have any of y'all had on your oil cooler before they needed to be serviced? I have 104k on mine and noticed some oil weeping from the front header, I've read that my 83 has 6 o-rings vs 4

    Axle seals

Must have been residual from back when the old brakes leaked before they had been replaced. Should have cleaned it up better, I spend a lot of hours on here reading but don't post to often. You guys are extremely helpful. Thanks!!

    Axle seals

Didn't notice any fresh fluid after commuting to work this morning. But will still rule out any potential leaks later today. And finally found a Chiltons manual and a good VIN decoder, you're right, axle code C3 and it's a limited slip w/ 3.73 gears. This link has one of the most...

    Axle seals

I'll tear into it tomorrow and try to identify the source of that fluid, started to wonder if when I removed my pump hose if I managed to fling some up onto there. I'm going to figure out for sure what rear end I have, but here is a shot of it anyways.

    Axle seals

This look like a Dana 60? Haven't found a decent vin decoder online, I'll tear into it tomorrow after work. Just want to shop for part #'s tonight in case I end up needing seals. Thanks for replying

    Axle seals

Here is a better angle, and I'm pretty sure it's a Dana 60 (noticed 60-10) stamped on the top right of the diff) Have any of y'all ever had something similar happen?

    Axle seals

Just pumped out and refilled my rear diff with 80w-90 gl5. Took her for a spin and after I got home I noticed this after looking underneath for any leaks, guessing it may be an axle seal? Rear brakes and wheel cylinders are all new, I hadn't noticed anything on the backside of my brakes until...

Engine has a new ticking sound at idle

Added a quart and 1/2 of oil and within 20m of driving down the highway it decided to stop ticking.

Engine has a new ticking sound at idle

Glad to see others have those types of noises to. It was my grandpas truck and I've only put about 2k miles on it. My dad had one growing up and we had about 300k on it before it was sold and it ran trouble free with just basic maintenance performed (and it's still going strong). These old...

Engine has a new ticking sound at idle

Turns out that noise is audible with some rpms, but only from the passenger side. Might run some Seafoam in the oil, how long do you leave it in your oil before you change it? This truck has under 100k and wasn't sure if the valve train could be the the culprit, I don't want to inkowlingly do...
