    putting oil with your fuel?

I would do some research rather than just go with what is said. Testing on lubricity has been done with regards to fuels and additives. The internet is the world's largest source of misinformation when used without regard to verification or scientific principles. I also remember reading a...

    RED DYE DIESEL FUEL

I would think the cop would have to have grounds to impound a vehicle. Lots of cops lie to get you do do what they want. I'd love to know the actual law with regards to private vehicles.

    timing without a tach

Rev it by ear and you should be ok. I don't think the timing changes much above 2000rpm.

    overheating

I bet your radiator is too small. I replaced mine this summer, and everyone including radiator shops wanted to sell me something smaller than stock row count or a cheap aluminum rad. Sorry, I am not going to take people's word when they just want a sale and can only tell me it fits. For DD...

    RED DYE DIESEL FUEL

I am curious as to how vigorous the testing is. My truck has over 300k on it (dad bought it new) and it has never once been dipped in Texas. For about half its life it has also had farm plates on it.

    HF diesel compression tester.

I have found quality tools save lots of time in the long run. I would imagine that anyone who owns older vehicles maintains them and would have or want the proper tools. If you don't maintain them yourselves, the cost advantage of an older vehicle is greatly diminished.

Rod knock? and other bad things

Check your clutch. Remove the bottom cover then start. If it is rubbing the cover, it will make a similar sound. Check the simple stuff first before pulling the motor.

    Gummy Oil

Don't worry about the sludge. Pwrsmoke is right on with his comments. To put it in perspective, I bought a junkyard motor and popped the valve covers to see the worst sludge accumulation I have ever seen. Thing is, the oiling surfaces and paths were in top shape with no visible wear when I...

    Cooling with Propane

I have seen many people try to make crazy ideas work. You know what they all have in common? They all spent more time and money trying to make it work than if they had done it right in the first place.

Why Convert To Electric Cooling Fan?

Electric fans are great for any application so long as the proper air flow is supplied.

Does Electric Fan Upgrade Require Alternator Upgrade?

You need to consider how you use your truck. Idle often? Then you need an alternator to run everything at idle. Your fans should come with the a/c regardless of coolant temp. If not, you can overpressure the a/c system. I would want an alt that can run everything at night while idling. Not...

    Cooling with Propane

Its sad to see stupidly dangerous ideas still being considered. The simplest and best thing to do is convert to 134 and be done with it. I converted my truck, and it blows cold enough to have to turn it down on a long trip. And that was complaints from the back seat.

    New member with a question.

The truck I drive was my dad's and he didn't want anything to do with a turbo. I told him that the turbo is reliable, and better in every way. He bought an '06 turbo dodge, and loves it. So much in fact, that his idi just sat for several years, which is how I got it. Replacing the original...

My cl tire mistake and question

Remember that a load range is just that, a range. Some D range are rated for higher loads than E and it depends upon the size and brand. I stick with good brands and don't have any problems. Brands unknown to me are the ones that have thrown tread. I am using 33" D range tires, and have no...

    TURBOcharger BUYING GUIDE

I have bought several turbos I pulled from a junk yard. If you know what to look for, its not a problem. Check shaft play and condition of blades, and you are fine. Just don't buy a cheap turbo even new off ebay.

    1993 turbo, 5 speed

My truck has about that many miles and runs great. It even had the original IP until recently. That trucks looks like a steal for that price.
