I also had to move the master cylinder to clear the valve cover. I looked at what Ford did to vans MC of the same vintage as my truck, and modified mine accordingly by half. 45 degrees instead of 90 degrees. Also used a master cylinder with the ports on the opposite side as stock. When my truck...

When I had the rayjay in service my boost pressure was also higher. Up to 11 psi on a hard pull. Because they are smaller on both sides. Going to a modified Holset did drop the boost pressure, but increased the volume of air available to the bonnet considerably. The smaller hot side spools it...

Brownies? Aux trannies? Dual transfer cases? 2 speed axles?

I have one in my shop like this from a bus that I owned, You are on point with all concerns. Not worth the effort on a 4x4 because of spacing and the 2 WD only aspect, not to mention U joint flange differences for the larger in and out shafts. Now a old friend did this with a smaller 3 sp over...

Ignition Switch RUN terminal wire R/LG always hot

I was familiar with the early starting issues of idi's before the better starters. They did not spin fast enough. I was also familiar with the amperage available from this system. It has not failed for almost thirty years, so I left it alone. Just sharing knowledge gained thru experience for...

    Glow plug time issue.

I just made the long one between the two batteries. Fed the relay with an 8 gage stranded. Different GP's have safe operating voltages. I experimented by observing with a heat gun and watching them. Autolite 1107 are 6 v, 53 watt. Autolite 1106 are 11 v. 73 watt. AC 60 G are 10.5 v 200 watt...

I went and looked. They are XD-4 Interstates. They both have 2012 bar code dates. 950 CCA each. Like I said, been there awhile.

One one each side like they would come with if they did that back then!

You are correct. It screws into the water jacket there at the back. Mine just plugs the hole. No controller at all. The latching relay for the GP's is fender mounted, and Grounded by the button in the cab. I run mine at 6 volts as designed for twice as long in normal temps by feeding the relay...

they have worked a very long time. I'd have to look, think I've only replaced one time. Well worth it IMHO

This is the same turbo kit mine started out as. Over the years I changed to a Holset H 1 C with a 56 mm billet wheel and modified housing, with a 16 cm hot side. Added a custom inter-cooler I designed to fit without to much material removal. I spun the bonnet to the other side. More air volume...

Group 27 size physically. 900 or 1000 Amps each. Been in there a long time an I really forget. Now one will fail. Mark my words.!!!

I'm not butting in, but if you go to a manual controller, you can eliminate the controller completely and just use the solenoid from it. I have two 6 Volt batteries and power the GP's with 6 volts (design voltage for them) from one of the batteries to the solenoid, for about 35 -45 seconds in...

Old Truck Older Guy New Here

That's why I got the pump overhauled in PDX, at Pacific Fuel Injection, and a new set of Stanadyne injectors. I've had good luck with them over the years. It did not help, but thanks. I usually don't give up easily...

It started hard even when warmed up, like air intrusion, but I could not identify why. I might not have given it a fair chance; it's not even broke in. And the 6.9 had given me reliability for so long, I think it was a payback for trying to improve on a good combination. I have an album posted...

Some of ya'll may see stuff under the hood that shouldn't be there. The Volvo windshield washer unit, the GM PS pump, the Dodge Turbo in the wrong location, the brake booster at the wrong angle, the mechanical throttle linkage to cable conversion to work on the other side of the engine from a...

I have looked at this site over the years but never joined. Til now. I've had my truck since 1974 and after several (3) gas motors, converted it to a turboed 6.9 in 1992. Used the crap out of it over the years, now has a bit over 500,000 on it with very few issues. 2 years ago, I freshened it up...
