This is the first time I've had an issue, I bought my other truck with manual control glow plugs(also 85 6.9(they are spade connectors)) and I've run them for 15 seconds plus with no issues. The ones I'm asking about are motorcraft plugs that are newly installed with less than 20 starts on them.
found out the hard way that 6v motor craft plugs don't like glowing more than 5 second on manual switch:rolleyes:. I had heard 15 second was the limit and also that various plugs can run forever with 12v so I didn't worry about it. My mistake...... My question is, ac delcos have the spade...
I just replaced half my return lines and glow plugs the other night. Granted the engine was warm but she purged the air and fired after just a few turns. I'd highly recommend doing both plugs and lines after running the truck. Haven't fiddles with the 7.3 controllers both my 6.9s run manual...
This is on a 6.9 so it has the separate relay on the wheel well fender. Can you jump that relay from the engine bay to power the glow plugs? I can in a different truck but it is also set up for a manual switch. I'm trying to decide if my plugs are completely dead or if I am misunderstanding...
On my last fuel up i managed to put 20 gallons in the front tank.... Capacities 18 isn't it?
If so is there any thing that could be going on other than diesel going back and forth between tanks?
Looking at buying a truck with a thrown rod. I have another motor to put in it but i'm curious. This is the second or third 7.3 aftermarket turboed that i've heard of or seen with a thrown rod. Im curious to hear what the responses are for typical causes of thrown rods in these 7.3 nas?
The third gen dodges are really good pulling trucks, however I own and upgraded 2 idi's for half the purchase price of one around here. Hard to beat a 6.7 Cummins with a 6 spd, till the dodge it sits in breaks.
I've towed heavy with both 3.55s and 4.10s and like 3.55 a lot better. It gives each gear more"range". If I hit a hill in 4th and it forces me to downshift 3rd has a top speed of 55-60 instead of 35-40. I wouldn't do without 4wd tho cuz with the higher gearing I need 4 lo to back up sometimes...
I fired up my old orange truck to go check on some things last night and notices it sputters at high rpm. And this is after running it for quite a bit. Could it be as simple as air intrusion and fuel leaks(which I know it has) or am I looking at a bad injector or pump? Thanks in advance!
So I'm confused is the amazon link above a light that works for our engines with the wrong picture? And is it all we need to time them? I know nothing about timing but need to learn
I'm 24 and own idi's for practical and sentimental reasons. My earliest memories of my now deceased grandpa are going out in one to check cows in winter. I learned to drive feeding cows in one since I was 10 or so while my dad fed off the back. Speaking for practical reasons they've got Just...
That truck has been posted for weeks. Other than insurance and registration make sure you check it out thoroughly. Something has been keeping other buyers scared.
