    golden rod filter

My main issue is there's now way to cleanly mount them. I wouldn't run one as the only filter, but as a primary they're great. I run a spin on type filter from wix/napa, they're $6 apiece and run a long time. No clear bowl or drain though, which some people want.

    Suggestion For Riotwarrior

On second thought, all we really need is mass flow rate through the ip, and inlet and exit temperature. I would think the flow being returned to the tank would be much, much larger than going to the injectors, so that part could be ignored or assumed to a certain value.

    Suggestion For Riotwarrior

It's pretty easy to know how much fuel flows through the injectors. About 4 gallons per hour at 60 mph in mine. And if we do get some flow rates, Ill be happy to break out the heat transfer textbook and attempt to do some calculations but there are so many unknowns still it would be only a...

Did a little work today, couple pics.

Nice work. I like your dash setup and gauges. And I'm a big fan of manual transmissions behind diesel engines.

    WTB/ISO 83-93 Ford F-series w/ 6.9/7.3L

May have my 94 (see sig) for sale in a month or so. I can take the turbo off if you like. In AZ, but I don't know how cheap it'll be.

    A smoking question

I have a 4.10 rear in mine, and I start in 1st almost all the time. The only time I don't is if I'm pointed downhill, but usually do anyway because of habit. I feel that second is way too high to start in, too much throttle and slow clutch letting out, more wear on the clutch too. I didn't...

In the quest for MPG who has thought of...

I think this is to reduce drag on the bottom of the trailer, and keep the trailer tires from having to break wind. But my understanding is that the only reason the vast majority of truckers have them, is not because of mythological mileage gains, but because Kalifornistan requires them because...

In the quest for MPG who has thought of...

I don't think you'd see a measurable difference, except in the weight of your wallet. If you wanted to eliminate rotating mass, consider the flywheel (if manual). A manual transmission flyhweel is really heavy, and takes a lot energy to spin it up and keep it spinning. Actually, it doesn't...

    DB Electrical starter problems

I didn't even notice mine being tight. Something is wrong, you're right not to force it - it could be really hard to get it back out.

    The ultimate truck

The only thing I would do is throw a flatbed on it and have an inline 6 diesel in it. Just a few weeks ago I looked at this very truck, and am hoping to buy it yet. 1997 F-350, CC, Dually, 4x4, 6BT Cummins, CM Flatbed.

Do you think I'm toasting the IP?

I ran VO for about 25k in my truck. I quit after I killed IP #2. I don't think that it was the hot oil, and I did save money even after buying new IPs. I think the killer is the switchover, going from ambient temperature diesel to 180F VO. If you're not pumping hot VO in there, then you're...

    Tach reading low? (New sensor)

Most like it between cylinders 6 and 8 (back two on drivers side - which is convenient for running the wires into the cab). They fire one after the other, so thats likely the hottest spot.

Nice. I had a 3/8 drive craftsman ratchet travel 1300 miles in my bumper.

    Body lift!?

Don't think so but I'll look. I just cut as much of the bottom as needed, which is most of it. Really easy since its plastic. I would definitely want one, as the fan on our trucks looks stout as a submarine propeller to me.

differences between f250 and 350 frames.

I could have sworn that the last bronco I looked under had the "accordion" frame behind the front bumper, and no f-350 I've seen has that.

    Body lift!?

I have a 3" "not for diesel" body lift on mine. The drivers side head contacted the firewall and would have made a nasty vibration, but 15 minutes with a crowbar bent it back enough that it hasn't made contact since even off road. I cut the bottom of the fan shroud, and still don't like how my...

    knock from manual trans..

A bad injector or something wrong with the IP can cause a nock at the flywheel - if one is out of wack it'll send an uneven pulse enough to rattle even good flywheels. Any chance you could post a video of the sound?

    knock from manual trans..

Check to see how much play there is between the two halves of your flywheel. I've read here that anything over 3/4" and its worn out. Mine was at 1" when I replaced it, but I did so more because I was going cross country with horses and didn't want to risk it. I have seen 1 3/8" play on a truck...

    Tach reading low? (New sensor)

At 1500 feet with 12000 lbs gross you should be able to get the rpms right to the governor, and do it in any gear on flat ground. 1500 feet above sea level isn't much. They really feel gutless at 9,000 plus.

    pyrometers

Love mine. After reading the instructions and documentation on it, installing it, and running it for a year I believe I got the best one a available in any kind of reasonable price range. I much prefer it to more expensive ones, I like that you can program it to let you know when you hit a...
