    Shaking under power

Mine occassionally does this and at first I thought it might've been the rear u-joint. After researching more on the net, it sounds like it's either a flexplate/torque converter issue or possibly a vibration induced by the engine. I'm still sorting it out with road tests but once I get it...

    Another collection question

I'm running the HF 1.5" gas powered 99cc water pump and it's been working GREAT. Priming it isn't that hard either, just put a foot valve on the end, fill up the hose at least halfway with oil, and stick it in your barrel. I've tried a few different collection methods and this is by far the...

    Wmo mix ratios for winter

What kind of fuel pressure are you getting with that in your IDI? I imagine it's much more forgiving when you aren't running 65 psi (PSD).

    Wmo mix ratios for winter

That's going to be 85% WMO and 15% Gas. The gas is what helps bring the viscosity down to a level that's about the same as diesel. It also has anti-gelling properties that'll keep the oil from thickening up.

    WMO and 6.0?

In the PSD with it's high FP's, I'm a fan of W82 (82% WMO, 18% RUG). In the IDI, I've found that W85 runs pretty good.

    WMO and 6.0?

No need for further explanations on the feel good fund. As a married guy myself, you had me as soon as you mentioned "the wife factor." If she ain't happy, nobody's gonna be happy, logic be darned. :backoff

    WMO and 6.0?

I hear you on having the emergency funds but my humble advice would be to help build the piggy bank by running WMO blends. With diesel prices in Western NY at $4.50/gal, it doesn't take too many miles of driving before my $.70/gal W83 blend paid for my injectors. On my 7.3 Excursion, I've...

    WMO and 6.0?

You will undoubtedly hear naysayers and horror stories about WMO in a 6.0 but yes, it can be done. As has already been suggested, the key is proper filtration and also making sure your viscosity is equal to or thinner than diesel. I've run WMO in an IDI (extensive miles), PSD (extensive miles)...

    Add on Fuel Filters...

TSC also sells a filter w/ fitler head, it's usually by the Goldenrod's and if not there, then right above where they have all the pumps, hoses, and nozzles.

New to towing, need some help .

Did you buy a trailer yet? If so, what'd you end up going with? If not, did you change your mind and start looking at a gooseneck?

    Add on Fuel Filters...

My guess would be that the WIX filter is twice as big as the stock filter...either that or the micron filtering is double. Either way you look at it though, a WIX filter in front of the stock filter would definitely prolong the stock filter by a significant amount. In my case, I can almost...

    Cold filtering WMO

Sorry I didn't see this earlier but I'd skip the water block filter. As long as you're settling properly and draining the bottom before you filter off the middle/top, water will be a non-issue. As for the RUG, I always buy ethanol free just because it *seems* like it'll work better. I don't...

    Help in Loma Linda Ca

Well, the problems I see are; 1) Filtering from 100 micron to 1 micron is not an effective method. You need to either add more filters and step it down more gradually or purchase a centrifuge. If you want to stick with filters, I'd go with something like 100,50,20,10,10,5,1. That oughta cut...

New to towing, need some help .

You can also Google your truck and find the factory ratings online. I just did a search and here's a thread that talks about it. http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f30/towing-capacity-94-f-350-idi-turbo-148849/ Excerpt from the thread. figure out the axle code then look up the data...

New to towing, need some help .

A good place to start is to look at your hitch and your tires. You don't want to pull more than your hitch can safely hold and you also don't want to overload your rear tires. On that 16ft trailer, I doubt you'll have much capacity left since the weight rating is 7K total, including the trailer...

    Burnin WMO in my idi

I've been running W83 but have found that it's a tad thick for my 200k fuel pump so I add another 3 gals to my full 40 gal tank. I've been measuring, cutting, installing wood fooors all day so my math skills are tired but feel free to do the math for me:)

    Burnin WMO in my idi

I did it in reverse, my IDI loved WMO so much that i bought a PSD Excursion so that i can run it in that too:)

    Pick up Laws???

I've never thought about that before since during the course of my time in a mechanics shop, I never would've thought to dump battery acid into the oil collection barrel...it just doesn't seem like an easy thing to do (holding an acidic battery, and dumping the contents into the oil, rather than...

Acck! Help me avoid a bad mistake LOL

FWIW, I have an '01 Excursion and am just shy of 10K miles with W85 on it. There's a few more steps over an IDI to get it to drink it the right way but it's not that hard and the fuel savings (cue Tony the Tiger voice) taste GRRRRREAAAT. But if you really want to convince yourself not to...

    Pick up Laws???

I'm a fan of W83 which is 83% oil and 17% RUG. The only time I add diesel is if my mixture isn't quite right and RUG won't correct the smoking. Now that my DP Tuner chip has been ordered, hopefully that won't be the case anymore.
