    aftermarket fuel level gauge

So where would I get a universal sending unit? Just from whatever company I get the gauges from? And does a universal unit replace the whole thing that goes in the tank, or just the electronic parts? And do they still work with the tank selector?

    aftermarket fuel level gauge

Ok, so looking around on here I've found plenty of stuff on how aftermarket fuel level gauges won't work with stock sending units, but can anyone tell me what I would need to get or do to be able to put an aftermarket gauge in? New sending units needed? Or what? I want to rebuild my whole...

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

After making up a whole new wiring harness for the glowplugs and FSS, the relay is now on the fenderwell and the system actually functions properly with the key now, thank you everybody for your help getting that figured out, now the truck has to wait until its cooler outside to get put the rest...

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

The main reason I was curious is my dads old Chevy 6.2 (I know it's probly a whole different animal) doesn't have any resistor like that, it's just the relay and it doesn't burn out plugs hardly ever

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

The system is already controlled manually, I just wasn't sure if I'd be able to get rid of that piece, but if it has to stay then I will keep it there and just the the controller box as a mounting point for the relay so the resistor has something to mount on

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

Ok, on further investigation I discovered that the wiring harness going to the glow plug relay had fallen against the down pipe from the turbo and melted, so I believe I have found the short and am now rebuilding the harness and relocating the relay to the passenger side fender well Now on...

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

And the relay is the solenoid? Or is there something else I'm not understanding here

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

But I unplugged all of the wires that went into the controller box, the wires only go into that solenoid I will check for that melted plug tho when I get home from work, the truck is sitting with the batteries unplugged now so as to not fry anything

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

I do know tho, that the way it's wired normally I can't use the glow plugs if the key is off and now that it started acting the way it is i can use them with the key out of the truck

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

When I installed the button I followed instructions that I found on here to do it, can't remember exactly how it's wired of the top of head tho

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

The gp controller is completely bypassed, how plus are just using the solenoid and a button now, the controller brain box thing is only still in there to serve as a place to mount the solenoid, but I will double check it to see if something is so hooked to it and maybe it is the culprit

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

Yeah, ignition switch I thought would've been the obvious culprit and I figured disconnecting it should've shut everything off, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem is now

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

I've had the truck for three years and never had any problems with it, I recently installed the turbo and made my glow plugs pushbutton, put a new stereo in it as soon as I bought it and never have had any electrical issues before this Yesterday it did refuse to shut off until I brought the...

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

Ok, so I pulled every fuse in the box and none of them took power away from the the voltage light or abs light or the FSS, when I pulled the battery terminals off and then put them back on they sparked big like there is alot of power draw somewhere, seems like it's gotta a be a big short, but I...

key won't shut engine down, lights for in dash stay on, but everything else goes off

When I turn the key off it shuts off the radio, but the engine stays running and the rear abs light comes on, once I get engine shut down by unplugging wire on IP the voltage light also comes on and no amount of tinkering with the key will get them to shut off I unplugged the ignition switch...

anyone ever try to make a better return line system?

That would definitely be a problem, that's why it's more of a conceptual idea than an actual, I'm gunna make it tomorrow type thing, and also why I asked cuz I was just curious on the feasibility of the idea

anyone ever try to make a better return line system?

My main thought was more just for not having to buy new caps and stuff, if it made it a little harder to work on that wouldn't really hurt my feelings any

anyone ever try to make a better return line system?

Just the caps out of aluminum? And then still use rubber hose? I was thinking steel caps and brake line or something to replace the hose between them just to try to make it as bulletproof(leak free) as possible

anyone ever try to make a better return line system?

Has anyone ever tried making a better return system? Like milling some new caps out of steel and putting threaded flare fittings on them and using some homemade brakeline sections to replace the rubber lines?
