    Coolant Flush Procedure

If there is almost always some degree of pressure under the cap when I remove it would that lean towards the fact that the system doesn't have any leaks? I feel like I may have read that someone got a pressure testing kit at Harbor Freight so I looked and its like $75. Which is oddly more...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

Where did you get the tool from Stu? I’m sure I can look up how to do the test online. still think I’ll send an oil sample to blackstone because... why not?

    Coolant Flush Procedure

Sheen is there: Part of me still thinks it’s just the drain pan because I didn’t notice it in the buckets that I used for the radiator drain cock. Thinking I’ll send an oil sample to blackstone. This might be more reliable than the coolant sample which I could send as well. I would...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

It’s hard to tell since it’s night. The other flushes I did before work and the sun was sort of up. I’m not going to lie it’s very possible that it’s just oil left in the drain pan since it’s been used for changing oil in the past. since I first posted I did more research on the oil cooler...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

I I looked at the oil cooler the outside looks good anyways. The color of the coolant doesn’t look oily just that oily sheen. the photo is from the radiator drain. Block drain looks less dirty. I was running green coolant and this is after the 3rd flush

    Coolant Flush Procedure

So far I've only done one flush of tap water which will be followed by another tap then a distilled water flush at which point I will then replace the RAD. I ran out of time to keep flushing the system on the same day. After I drained the block after the first flush the water had an oily...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

4 gallons fleet charge plus 4 of distilled water right?!?! I bought 50/50 premix as that was all the local Napa had. Should be 8gals total

    Coolant Flush Procedure

Definitely on their dime! Funny you say that, it was delivered a week late each morning they would say it would be delivered that day and it would never come. I had a few phone calls and fairly choice words with people. It really sucks that you have to be pushy to get things. Otherwise, they...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

I wasn't planning on doing so but was only wondering after it was mentioned above as a possible thing to remove when flushing. My previous research lead to the same idea, turn heater on max sit and wait (or drive) for the thermostat to turn on, shut it down, let it cool drain and repeat. The...

Stu, were you changing fluid type or just re-upping the fluid?

    Sudden Unexplained No-Start

Can’t say I know much but maybe that helps because I’ve found that almost every issue tends to be the easiest most obvious thing that we all over look. These engines run on compression. You said injectors are fine but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a compression issue elsewhere right? What about...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

My gut feeling is that I would prefer 5 flushes over removing the tstat. It seems like a lot of added work. I have no idea how to remove/reinstall the heater core. A fairly quick search didn’t reveal any info either. Would you mind sharing how to do so? Maybe I will do radiator, plugs and...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

I'm switch from basic green to fleet guard. At least thats the plan. If I'm doing that then you recommend removing plugs, Tstat and heater core? ayyeee yayyy yaaayy

    Coolant Flush Procedure

There isn't a way to double check that the Tstat is working is there? I have no reason to believe it doesn't. I'm still running stock gauges so... useless.

    Coolant Flush Procedure

I read your thread about your flush. I had done some research and found that burping can be a pain but hopefully it goes smooth! Thanks for the blessings :Thumbs Up

    What oil do you use?

Chevron delo 15w-40. I’ve found it to be readily available on road trips in most places. I’m burning through like a quart every 500-700 miles possibly less than that. This could be a whole host of issues so idk how great of a gauge burning oil is.

    Coolant Flush Procedure

I bought two of these petcocks today from Napa. They're meant to replace the current plugs. I'm sort of skeptical of the small holes for draining because I'm sure there will be debris (my RAD is pretty brutal). These are also titled Radiator Drain Petcocks but they're 1/4" NPT so I'm assuming...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

Thank you! My thermostat seems to work fine, heater works fine so I don't see the point in taking this apart. After you do you initial flush when removing the block drains do you just lock them back up and do the rest of the flushes only out of the radiator? I was thinking I would do the...

    Coolant Flush Procedure

If I weren’t to tap into the heater hose or remove the thermostat would it not drain all the way by simply removing the drain plugs? I plan on running distilled water through the system probably twice. sorry, first time doing a flush

    Coolant Flush Procedure

I'm going to flush my coolant and then replace my radiator tomorrow with an aluminum Champion radiator and fleet charge premix 50/50 (pink top). I found these instructions online for the coolant flush: https://www.dieselhub.com/maintenance/idi-coolant-flush.html The author mentions that the...

Makes sense, aren't you worried about residue I.e. salt, water etc. getting on the terminals?

    Key gets stuck in "ON"

Maybe after this go around since the linkage seems to be working fine now I'll glue it. Then, when I have to break it again I'll use duct tape and wire - haha. Thanks for offering to check that out. Now that the key works I got back to replacing the window seals (from LMC) and now the window...
