    Fast clicking glow plug relay

Bad plugs or the wires to them, or the connections to controller or relay are loose if it's like full auto machine gun fire!

    Suddenly no more headlights?

I'll give these all a shot, thanks guys! Yeah last summer it was ALL lights if I recall , this time it was just headlights not working. I was told something was overheated from running the high beams back then, but I could be wrong on the details. I was just astounded how it failed, right when...

    Suddenly no more headlights?

So I was driving the other night on my new property working the truck, headlights were fine on the way there, needed more light so I pushed the floor switch for brights and the headlights go off, haven't come back. Turn signals and reverse work. I had one other issue a year or so ago, at night...

    Tachometer Add on

My 87 was missing its tach sensor, gauge would bounce around. Popped one in, no luck. That's about as far as I got with my attempt

Tire chains or off-road tires for occasional mud

Yall carry Snatch blocks right? Doubles the effectiveness of your winch, at the cost of time and cable length. Turn your 8k into a 16k really cheap. A big part of our problem is weight to tire surface area causing sinking.

    NEW TRUCK

If you clean it very well and coolant or liquid isnt near it you can solder it yourself. Radiator shouldn't really get above 200f, you can see the ratings of different solders, or could braze it if paranoid. Otherwise good luck on the shop

    Glow plug resistance

Self regulating? Not as far as I know. You pretty much have two choices to sum it up: Ones that get too hot and ones that don't get hot enough. 15 is too much for beru true, you either have air intrusion or all 8 plugs aren't glowing... or terrible compression. when it starts does it stumble?

    Glow plug resistance

Hard to say I usually just hit them with a test light. What brand of plugs? On pushbutton I could start my prior engine in 5-7 seconds depending on weather with Bosch plugs. With beru plugs it was damn near double. New engine I still give it about 8-10 depending on conditions, time sitting etc

    Manual glow plug cycle?

Also depends on your type of glow plug, some run hotter. Sound advice for motorcraft beru. TMI but If you use Bosch or wellman, the time is reduced. Even my piss tired prior engine would light up quick on Bosch, but too much time would kill them cause they get HOT. There was little chance with...

Banks 1st Gen turbo outlet size

Do you actually have black exhaust? My 1st gen stock banks tops out around 5.5psi balls to the wall, I get a puff of black then it cleans up, I'm sure I have small boost and exhaust leaks, I will address them eventually... You need fuel for boost, if your fuel system is tired you might not make...

Anyone put both batteries on one side?

Looks like it puts out fine, doesn't 'feel' topped off. I'll install a voltmeter and see where I'm at.

    Saginaw swap

I have pics somewhere on here, you can look up my threads... Didnt cut much of the c2 mount. I think I just notched it a bit for clearance. Most of the magic was using the GM Saginaw bracket as a sacrificial lamb. I reused one c2 bolt hole, and used the bracket from gm to attach two other...

    Saginaw swap

I cut my c2 mount and added parts from some GM Saginaw mount, but the shaft is too short on the Saginaw, never found out if I could get a different one easily. I've been using it with a bolt helping hold the pulley on for thousands of miles just fine until recently. Got a slow leak somewhere...

Anyone put both batteries on one side?

Is there a better alternator than the 3g 130 amp? I feel like mine doesn't fully charge the batteries, they aren't dead or anything but my 40 amp charger always seems able to pump more in...

Yup. Good practice to do this with a new IP/injectors anyway

new ip and injectors now wont start

voltage varies, but if you have a test light you can hook it onto battery positive, unplug each plug and poke the spot where the connector was, light on they should be OK

new ip and injectors now wont start

if you have white smoke it means you have fuel so the fss is fine. It means you don't have glow plugs working to make the heat needed to start it up. If you have a block heater plug it in, better than nothing. Ether and glowplugs dont mix, so put the ether away unless you unplug the glow plug...

    Still in nee of help

Compression is what ignites the fuel on a diesel, a bent rod takes compression away. No spark plugs to light the fire means you get a miss. I think the old adage is Suck Squeeze Bang Blow, but if you don't squeeze enough (bent rod) you don't get the (full) bang! Heat will help it catch some if...

Can a glow plug test good but be bad?

theres a reason we use two batteries often! depends on the glowplugs you use too, 6V plugs like bosch work FANTASTIC on a pushbutton setup but are easy to burn out because they get so hot so the controller will kill them, so its 100% a no-go with the controller. The motorcraft berus in my SWAG...

new ip and injectors now wont start

Can you get any smoke out the tailpipe? Keep cranking it a good 15 seconds and see if any is coming out while cranking. No smoke, no fuel: could be a problem with the fuel shutoff solenoid (FSS), the electric wire that goes to the IP - try running a wire straight from 12V+ to the electric plug...
