    Coolant problems?

Yeah I’m going to have to try that out along with the others. Went out today and while the block heater was warming the truck up I took a test lamp to all the glow plugs and found 3 bad ones. I always knew there were a couple but I was just procrastinating. Headed out for the holiday break...

    Coolant problems?

Ahh good to know. Yeah there sure isn’t a lot of room with that starter in the way. I took it out when I installed the new block heater. I heard Homer is fairly nice, I was stationed in Sitka for a year with the Coast Guard. Alaska was good to me, I kind of miss it. A little hard when I was...

    Coolant problems?

You guys think I could plug in the block heater this morning to help her crank up when I go to work on it? The coolant should have flowed into the block from the bottom hose correct?

    Coolant problems?

Well shoot, that’s good to to know. I went out today to purge any trapped air out the heater core hoses but said f that. It was too cold. Supposed to be above freezing tomorrow so I think I’ll do it the then. Thanks everyone for the advice thus far though, tired of driving my wife’s minivan...

Roger that guys. Just got home from work. Took a few tools from the shop so going to throw on the bibs and head out in the cold to burp this sonobitch!

    Coolant problems?

HAha yeah good call. Luckily for me there are plenty of low traffic highway roads around the house that I can go anywhere from 25-60 on without getting too far from home that also have unlimited pull over sites. Hopefully that burp does her good. When I took off the stat housing gooseneck I...

    Coolant problems?

Hell yeah. I was thinking I just needed to drive it and see what happened but I didn’t want to **** anything up. But I’m doing it now, thanks for the advice! Will update after I get off and see what happens.

    Coolant problems?

Hello my trusty diesel techs. I have come to a bump in trouble shooting my truck. I have an 86 F250 6.9 with 159,000 miles. I’ve never had any real problems I’d say, just minor little fixes here and there. Currently, I am having a coolant problem, or so I believe. I drained and flushed all the...

    1986 1 ton GVWR?

Hell yeah thanks guys. Norcan sounds like a damn good time. I lived in Humboldt for 5 years and that whole area is amazing. Just couldn't get over all the libs and junkies. Ended up leaving in 2016. I've loaded 1 ton of soil in the bed before and she drove great from what I could tell. Didn't...

    1986 1 ton GVWR?

If you could put 2200 in the bed wouldn't that make it a one ton? That's what gets me. I had to weigh my truck for a move about a year ago, she was 5200 empty without me or any ruel in it. I wouldn't think that means I could put 3,000lbs in it but I have definitely loaded a ton of soil before.

    1986 1 ton GVWR?

Hey y'all. Hope everyone is cruising their rides this summer. I got a question and I'm hoping someone had an answer. I want to buy one of those bed campers for my truck. The door sticker says her gvwr is 8,600lbs. Does that make her a 1 ton? Or did they only make these f250 6.9s in 3/4 ton?

    Hard starts, stalls. Surges too

I drained the water separator about a month ago and it didn't look like too much water if any in there. That is one of the only things that wasn't stock on the truck. It's a racor filter by parker I believe. It's hooked up and has been since I bought the truck. The truck doesn't sit for longer...

    Hard starts, stalls. Surges too

I'll have to give it a good whiff tomorrow morning when I crank it up. Any thoughts on the location of such bad air intrusion? Return lines should all be sealed up and good to go

    Hard starts, stalls. Surges too

Back at ya guys with another scenario. Engine cranks over, takes too long to start though. Once it does, it stalls out. Unless I give it plenty of throttle it will die. After a few times I can get her started and she will run but I get a surge of power intermittently, almost always at lower...

    return lines left me stranded

I just installed the Delphi kit on my truck a few days ago. She never died on me but her cold starts were hell and even with the block heater it would start pretty rough after sitting too long. She runs great now, starts even better.

    Rough Starting 6.9idi

Yeah upon getting off work and actually inspecting the lines, many of then are soaked in diesel. I'm going to replace them this weekend. Here's a pic showing the contrast between a soaked one and a dry one.
