wiring diagram for 1989 ford 7.3 IDI

I'd guess that the harness at the tank selector is what you'd need to rewire. Determine which pair of wires goes to the sender for the tank that you are going to keep and wire those directly to the sender in that tank. In the cab you could eliminate the selector switch in the same way. Should be...

Also find a way to read that code related to the SES light. Could be a code for the TPS/IVS or something else. Once you get the code post it here.

    7.3 Noob questions

SES means there is a code stored. Could be you aren't able to read it with the scanner that you are using. Try blowing compressed air around the TPS and IVS assembly where the pedal attaches to the wiring harness. You could also disconnect and clean the harness contacts with Deoxit electrical...

    Old to new parts swap

Are you wanting to put a manual shift linkage on an electronically controlled transfer case? I suppose it could be done, but it's much easier to go to a pick-n-pull and grab a manually shifted t-case, linkage, and floor cover.

    GB Remanufacturing valve cover harneses

OEM or fix it again. Another mod to consider, and I believe this is major reason for UVCH failure, is to put the glow plug relay on a switch. You can then disable the glow plugs when they aren't really needed as well as turn them off once the truck starts. Saves wear and tear on the wiring...

Where is a good place to get a pcm?

Don't see how you could clean the contacts with the PCM still in the truck.... Do you get the WTS light when turning the key to "on" ?

Where is a good place to get a pcm?

what's wrong with your PCM? What is the 4 digit box code? There are multiple PCMs that can fit your truck going by the box code. I'd check ebay.

    7.3 Noob questions

sounds stock post-turbo EGT is practically useless IMO. Move the pyro to pre-turbo and then keep it under 1300F with a stock truck, it's almost impossible to have dangerous exhaust temps.

    1988 7.3 IDI sawp into 2000 truck?

The 2000 and 1988 diesel engines had no EPA emission controls, with the exception of the powerstroke having a manual transmission then it was spec'd to have a catalytic converter for soot control during lugging, automatics had no converter.

    1988 7.3 IDI sawp into 2000 truck?

If the truck needed an OBD scan for emissions, then yes, the IDI wouldn't pass with all of the error codes that would show up unless you could fool the PCM. If I was the original poster I'd give a call to the local inspection station to confirm, or do some research online about diesel emission...

    2000 f250 what to check.

seems high in my opinion especially being 2wd. I'd offer around $5k for it if everything checks out. for reference 5 years ago I bought my 99 CC 4x4 manual transmission truck with zero rust from california/virginia for $6k with 215k miles on it.

    2000 f250 what to check.

How many miles? Do they have documented service? Just like any old vehicle, things will wear out and need to be replaced, hence the service records would be helpful. Easy test for the engine is to ask it to be started cold. Immediately take the oil cap off and place it inverted on the fill...

    Troubleshooting help

On my 99 the WTS light is on the right side of the cluster. That diagram looks wrong since the tach goes to 6k which is incorrect for a diesel. I know that the later SD 7.3s they change the cluster so maybe it is on the left side on an 01

    Troubleshooting help

No WTS light = PCM not powering up.... either a fuse issue (most likely tied to the fuel heater) or a failed PCM.
