left wheel bearing it probably loose or worn. best to do both at the same time and be sure to follow the proper torquing sequence with all of the components put in the proper order on the spindle.
Some TC will have a drain plug, others will not....my 97 does.
If you don't have a drain plug on the TC there is a procedure to pump the fluid out by disconnecting the cooler line going to the rear of the transmission. I've never had to do that procedure since I have the drain plug on the TC...
Do not use Mercon5
Valvoline mercon/dexron along with 2 bottles of lubegard red is what I run in my 97 with the e4od transmission (very similar to the "newer" 4r100 in your truck)
transmission and tc are original with over 212k miles on it.
remove valve covers and look for oil coming from the injector spouts while cranking. All 8 injectors should be leaking the same amount of oil, indicating that they are firing.
Block heater work? Try plugging the truck in for at least 3 hours prior to attempting to start.
How have you confirmed...
I would have just stuck with the mechanical fuel system, but if I was installing an electric fuel pump I would have it powered constantly with ignition "on" and have a kill switch mounted in the cab for when I was doing something that required the ignition to be on with the engine off.
I...
where is this "kam fuse" located? I've never heard of this fuse.
instead of wiring a voltmeter and installing an oil gauge, best bet is to get a scanner that can log as you drive to see what your sensor are reading when it quits.
My money would be on the IPR itself, or the solenoid, or the...
Absolutely. My SD 7.3 powers the electric fuel pump as soon as the key is turned to on, and times out after 30 seconds or so.
I would reconfigure one way or another so that you have fuel pressure as soon as the key is turned to on. Even the mechanical fuel pumps on the OBS trucks build...
P0603 injector control Module Keep alive Memory Kam Error
P1280 Injector Control Pressure Sensor circuit low.
KAM error is common on stock trucks, more so when chipped
ICP isn't showing the proper voltage for expected oil pressure according to the PCM
I'd be the IPR itself or the IPR solenoid...
you're losing fuel pressure/flow because of the trash in the tank that is clogging the strainer. You need to drop the tank(s) and clean them out and replace whatever is contributing to the trash. That's why the truck stalls out.
spectra makes tanks for the OBS fords not sure about an...
2500 miles?
Throwing away money imo, i'd do at least 5k with a good synthetic oil. I run rotella 5w-40 @ 5k intervals (about an oil change per year for me) If i drove more I'd stretch it out to 10k miles.
inspection plug is on top of the HPO reservoir, need an allen key to remove. Oil should be pretty close to the top, if it's low when the truck stalls then I'd suspect the LPOP can't keep up with oil demand.
A 7.3 IDI is pretty obvious from a 7.3 PSD, since the IDI will have the injector lines visible, while the PSD will have nothing but the valve covers showing on top.
I'd bet it's a turbo'd IDI unless someone did a lot of work to swap it over to a PSD
can you log data while this is occuring?
Next time it stalls out, measure the oil level in the HPO reservoir through the inspection plug. Should be no lower than 1" from the top.
Also check if the fuel bowl is full.
