    Need some corona dollars?

Sorry Mel, no cores to send, but its great to see you on the board. Same with you Ron. Miss you guys.... Missed my IDI too. So I parked the F450 in the shop this weekend and I'm driving the F350. Man I really love the ZF5 and the sound of the turbo spooling up. She's way more nimble than...

Turbo 6.9idi in a 1949 Ford F1: Change My Mind.

How much room do you have between the firewall and the radiator? If I were you, I'd look for a DT360 or better yet a DT466 for it if (and that's a big if) there is enough room (length wise) under the hood. Why a DT? They are wet sleeved, way over built (they have 5/8 head bolts for crying out...

Would leaking IP cause wet clutch?

It can get into the bell housing if the leak is decent enough. I've had it happen more than once over the years. Never had it cause clutch issues though. Heath

Fuel spraying everywhere under the hood!!

To melt the cap like that, the injector was sticking open, allowing hot gases back into the injector. Injector gets very hot and melts the return cap. My bet is you had an injector knock too? Seen it a few times on my old '86 F250 with very high mileage injectors. Heath

    Front "rumble" with hubs locked

Yes sir. The front axle/driveshift doesn't like turning that fast. I'd crawl under the truck and look at the front drive shaft for any slop at the joints. If the joints are worn, the vibration/rumble will be worse. Heath

    U joints

Couldn't have said it better myself. Measure the size of the caps and buy accordingly. Spicer only here too. Not had good life out of chain store joints. Heath

    Door key works doesn't work

Have the same issue on my '86 F350 CC. I have found that putting WD-40 in the lock helps, but I need to take the panel off the door and really lube the linkage. Heath

Fuel pump location 1991 7.3 idi 2 tanks

It's time to pull the sending units on the tanks and look at the fuel pickup on the bottom of the senders. Like stated above, they tend to fall off the sender over time and you can't get fuel from the bottom 1/4 of the tank. The front you can remove without much trouble. The rear, typically...

    Introduction plus question

That's exactly how I did my intercooler on the '86 crew cab in my signature. Looking at your video, I was thinking to myself.... that's exactly how I intercooled my truck. LOL Heath

    Aftermarket gauges recommendations

Autometer or Isspro. Have Autometer's in my F250 that have worked great for close to 15 years now. I recommend oil, water, pyro, voltmeter, and fuel pressure. Heath

    6.9l best place for injectors?

Injector body and fuel line will typically be very hot if it is sticking open allowing exhaust gases backing to the injector causing a knock. Can even melt the return line cap. I've had nothing but excellent results from Conestoga Diesel Injection. Heath

    Is there any benefit?

Years ago, Banks offered a "stinger" kit (if I remember the name correctly). It was for NA IDI's. It included an exhaust kit from the manifolds back, air box lid without a soup bowl, different air filter (K&N I think), and a pyrometer. Instructions also recommended turning up the IP one flat...

    Hub centric or lug centric?

The Dana 60 I have on my '86 F250 is lug centered. It had (and still has) tapered lug nuts. The donor was a '91 F350 single rear axle. I don't recall any truck axles being hub centric on Fords of that era. Heath

X 2. It happens. Not unusual. Think I've had to replace the sender on both my IDI's in the past. Heath

    2020 rally dates

Nothing wrong with the 11th - 19th. I'm not sure if we'll be able to haul that far. 600 miles is about the limit with the little ones (well little one - Heidi is almost a teenager now) in a truck. Will just have to see I'm afraid. Heath

    I’ve got a tick...

I've had a few injector ticks/knocks over the years. The bad injector will let hot exhaust gas get up into the injector body. It can even melt the return cap. But, it can be easy to find injector that is bad.... it will be much hotter to the touch than it should be. Just don't burn your...

    RPM limit

I know hauling with the 6.9 crew cab, RPM's are your friend. If I let the RPM fall below 2100-2200 on hills, the EGT's start climbing quickly. So I just downshift and let her sing between 2500-3000 and the EGT's come down and the girl keeps on rolling. I don't often need to take it past 3000...

    2020 Oilburners Rally Location Voting

I added a large font link in my signature to the voting thread, so everyone who sees my posts can see the link here in my sig. I understand about traveling long distances with little ones. For us, a big run up to NH would take four days (two going and coming) leaving just 3 or 4 max to camp...

    Increased Oil Consumption

The center section of the turbo that holds the bearings and seals.... But, oil can leak from the IP gear housing, but it usually has a good seal as there is a lip and silicone channel on the bottom that keeps that area pretty dry. Heath

No fuel to low pressure pump

How much fuel is in the tanks? If less than 1/4 tank.... the shower head pickups may have fallen off the sending units. Only way to know is either fill the tanks past 1/4 and see if it picks up fuel then, or just pull the sending units and see for yourself. If the senders are fine...
