I will pull the top cover off and take a look at the governor rod. Does that top cover use a gasket to seal? Anything else to check while I have it open?
I had 2 fresh charged 1100 CCA batteries on the truck. I have a battery charger that has a starting mode guess I will hook that up and give it a shot. if that doesn't work I will try the hooking the battery in the land rover to it (I think it is a 850 CCA)
So a quick update.
I got back to work on the truck this past weekend. I replaced the fuel filters and filled with fresh diesel (5 gallons mixed with 1/4 of a qt of diesel clean and a little 2 cycle oil) I installed clear tubing on the return line from the top of the injector pump and the line...
Unless someone comes up with something I will take the specs for the baldwin to my local fleet supply and have them find something. I was just hopping someone was already running something so I would know it works.
I don't have the fuel bowl, I have the "one piece fuel/water separator" Its currently a Baldwin 1222SP. I don't really see the need for two water separating filter units. So my question was is there a standard fuel filter (that is not marketed as a fuel/water separator) that will fit the housing?
Good afternoon everyone,
My truck is set up with a 10" fuel/water separator under the bed and has the standard one piece fuel/water separator under the hood. Is there a standard fuel filter that would work under the hood? I am just looking for a cheaper option to the napa gold $50 a piece filters.
its not cheap but west system G-Flex is a two part epoxy that is designed to work with ABS plastics. i have used it extensively and it works very well, as with anything prep and following directions makes something work properly and last.
After you talk to them post back and let us know if they were able to help. If they are not I have a number for a private diesel mechanic that was also recommended to me by a local 7.3 guy.
Industrial Diesel in norfolk. I have never used them for my personal stuff. But I have been recommended by several friends with diesel vehicles. I do deal with them alot with the navy and they are very helpful. I talked to them about rebuilding my Injection Pump and they seemed knowledgeable...
No I haven't tried pull starting. The truck cranks happily but it is not getting enough fuel I don't think, and I am chasing someone else's bad wiring job. I did figure out that they installed a manual glow plug button, the wire was broken so I hooked it up and the wire started smoking and the...
I haven't had much time to play with it. I did clean up the valley pan to see if I could see where the fuel was coming from, I cranked the truck several time and no fuel has shown back up yet (kinda confused about that). I cracked the injector lines and cranked the truck for about 10 seconds...
People in the Land Rover Club I am in use K-Seal. Many are Mechanics and run it in their trail trucks as a just in case kinda thing. They say that it won't coat passages and will live happy in the coolant system and only seal a leak.*** I don't use it*** But in a tight spot, If i had to use...
So Weather providing I will be working on the truck in the morning. I will remove the Fuel Injection Pump Lever, Do I remove the whole bracket or just the sensor? Also what should I be looking for to Locate the Fuel leak on the Injection Pump? the fuel is puddling under the pump but I cant see...
Signature has been updated. It is A Manuel 5 speed. So can I remove that sensor or does it need to be on the IP?
I also have a fuel leak under the IP. What should I be looking for as the culprit of the leak? I will try to post a picture in a while but the fuel looks to be coming from closer to...
I understand that, That's why I have been using this site as a reference for a long time. But that being said A book to make notes in and Highlight while I am tracing wires or running new ones is needed.
So what is the best book to get for trouble shooting this truck? I am starting to try and sort out the wiring under the hood and need some wiring diagrams to be successful.
So I just jumped in it this morning and tried to start it with and without the petal depressed. I did 15 seconds of cranking followed by about 5 min of letting the starter cool down, I did this 4 times. I could smell some exhaust but it never started. It did sound like a couple cylinders may...
Short term enough to try to get it started. I was thinking about pulling the glow plugs and testing them and perhaps just making temporary wire and bullet connector leads. If I need to disconnect them and try starting fluid would I just trace the wiring harness from the glow plugs and disconnect...
