My 1991 Ford F-350 build thread

Its awesome to see a young person getting involved with one of the older trucks. They are amazingly simple and that's what makes them great. Post some pictures so we can all see what you have done.

    Battery trays

I don't have much left to attach to. So I am going to build something, but whatever I make I will be putting a plastic battery tray in it too. Simply to keep the battery and the paint both safe from each other. Hopefully no battery rubbing around on the paint will mean it won't rust out again.

    Unique Modifications

Man look at those beautiful steel wheel well liners.... I think I will have to make a set for mine while it is mostly apart. I am just thinking of being able to properly mount things in that area verses the rubber that is there now. Dang it! Everytime I get looking on here I make more work...

    Battery trays

Hey everyone, So I have been looking for replacement battery trays and not having much luck. I have found a few that say they are for the passengers side but I wonder if they fit the diesel battery. I have kinda decided to fabricate new trays and just wondering if any of y'all have done so...

    1989 f250 interior parts.

Sorry I am just seeing this, the parts truck was a 2wd.

    Need Starter Bolts!!

Just out of curiosity what is the difference between the IDIT starter bolts and a non turbo? I probably have a set of the non turbo bolts.

    ISO Flexplate Spacer

If the one you ordered isn't correct, I am pretty sure I have that spacer sitting in a box of parts I pulled off a 1989 7.3 parts truck that had the E40D. I have a ZF5 so I have no need for it.

    1989 f250 interior parts.

I am going to scrap my parts truck. But it has a very good condition blue interior. Dash, door panels with power window buttons, plastic trim around doors an DC rear window, also a neat behind the seat storage shelf. I will get a picture of the dash and other trim tomorrow.

    overflow tank

Wes probably has you hooked up by now. But if not I think I have one out of a 89 and a 91 both didn't leak when removed. I may willing to part with one.

Drive shaft for single cab with 6.9, C6, & Sterling axle

I have a drive shaft out of a 89 F250 with a 7.3 that had a C6 and the sterling rear end. I was keeping it to potentially make a straight driveshaft for my extended cab. But I will probably never get around to that.

    Reviving a 1990 F250

Yeah while having it apart to reseal it I cleaned it and painted it so I can keep track of any leaks. This engine appears to have been rebuilt not to long ago based on condition of the heads and the couple bearings I took a peak at. Hopefully it will run great for a long time. But I plan on...

    Reviving a 1990 F250

Well I finally got the engine back in the truck. Now just to hook everything back up and see if it works.

    Tips for removing valley pan

Also make sure you remove the large drain through bolt. I fought mine for a good bit before I removed that and it came off fairly easy afterwards.

    What is this???

So I am finally putting my engine back together and noticed that my seal kit doesn't have this piece. It was in the valve spring cap between the valve stem and cap I guess as a guide. I can't find it anywhere and don't know what it is to look for it properly. Is it something that we don't use...

    That's great news!

    91 7.3 died won’t restart

If they dropped the tanks and now your having a starting problem that is presenting itself like air intrusion then they most likely didn't get some lines put back together properly. Also I am pretty sure only the Powerstroke's have a HPOP so if hey say they cleaned it I would be very suspicious...

What kind of fiberglass lasts the longest?

Sorry I am kinda late to this conversation. I tried looking up this evercoat fibertech. I couldn't find much on it and the SDS doesn't show up on the manufacturers page. I would worry about it being talc based. Talc will absorb water and continue a rust problem or create one where one didn't...

    SMF kits

I guess I should have said if the original DMF is in there it will be replaced, I wouldn't trust it at the age and milage. But the previous own said something about the flywheel and pressure plate being replaced. If he did it would most likely be a SMF due to the cost of the DMF. I would trash a...

    PVC Fuel return rails

Definitely kept your design file. I would say if everything fits on your prototype setup then forget the plastics, and the router table setup your using should be capable of working with aluminum (may have to buy a couple specific milling bits) but them your playing with a Final product that you...

    SMF kits

I haven't gotten that far yet. I am currently resealing the donor motor and plan on pulling the engine from my truck in the next week and then I will decide if the flywheel I have is usable. My truck is going to be a work truck and tow vehicle so I want something that will hold up.

Looking for a Vacuum Control Valve 6.9 IDI

I'm not very familiar with any differences between the 6.9 and 7.3 but I have that unit from a parts truck(7.3 with a C6) I have and I have no need for it. If it is that same your welcome to it.

    7.3 IdI honing cylinders

I had decent compression before pulling the engine from the donor truck and the engine ran great. I think I am going to just leave it alone and put it back together and run it. I am rebuilding the engine I am pulling from my truck and this donor engine is just to get the truck on the road again...

Messed up changing oil pressure switch

Totally agree. pull the sensor and crank and blow the dirt out. better to clean up a mess than run the risk of the grit hurting the oil pump.

    7.3 IdI honing cylinders

So I have made no progress on this (stupid work getting in the way) A friend of mine looked at the block the other day and said it looked fine for its age. the cylinders are shinny and I don't see any visible to the naked eye crosshatch. He said to leave it and run it. or rub the cylinders...

    7.3 IdI honing cylinders

I may go down the total sealing ring kit on the next engine. This is just a temp setup. I am rebuilding the engine I am pulling from the truck and that one will probably get a turbo and all the goodies. I just want this one to run for a year or two.
