'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

What does this tell me? -Lost a main bearing? -Rod bearings? -What would cause the low compression in every cylinder? Any idea what would cause this to suddenly fail? Clogged oil pickup? My oil changes have always taken nearly 3 gallons of oil so it's not like the pan has been "growing"...

We then drained 6 ounces of oil from the pan and swept it with a magnet. The drain pan magnet was covered in fuzz, 4 times the amount that has ever been present. The end of this magnet showed this from a single pass in the 6 ounce sample. Obviously this oil is cold and has not been moving...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I pulled the PS valve cover...that sucks to remove. It looks very similar to the DS, perhaps not quite as clean. Everything moves nicely and the pushrods are able to rotate. No loose rocker bolts. After that we removed the oil psi sender for the turbo and placed a hose in a jug, oil is...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Any shortcuts for removing the PS cover? Also, I've had a knock develop over the last 10k miles that comes and goes. I've never been able to isolate it. It is most apparent when coming off of idle, lightly loaded. Like when pulling into a parking lot or creeping up a few car lengths in traffic...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

No. I misspoke. I have the driver's side VC off. The muddy injector is from the PS hole 6. The sooty one is from DS hole 7.

    Intercooler heavy duty testing run.

Awesome pics and great data. Your speeds, mileage and loads are similar to mine but I have the e4od and 4.10's. Some 4.10's would really make her pull.

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I have the passenger side valve cover off and everything looks great, after seeing those 2 injectors covered in goop I was not expecting the rockers to look very good. Everything is tight and appears to move properly when cranking the engine over. I set the damper @ eleven o'clock to unload...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

I performed a compression test on 6 of the 8 cylinders. Here are my numbers on a ambient temp (80*f) engine that had sat for several days. After dripping 10 drops of oil through the GP hole it only came up 20psi.

The Truck now has a verified fresh set of injectors and a CDD pump with 300 miles on it. Do I swap in my junk yard IP for "fun"?

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

When I swapped injectors I was greeted by something I've never seen on this Truck. 1 injector on each bank looked like this. Head gaskets? Both sides at the same time?

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

Thanks Wes. I am not concerned about the head and rotor, I only included that for backstory and I feel that the pump issue has been addressed. I've never heard a hiss from the tanks and it ran the same regardless of tank selection. I have more troubleshooting to share but I am curious if an...

'94 IDIT runs rough, low power, nearly overheating after Moose IP

My Truck in my signature is experiencing some strange issues. I have been experiencing rough idle, low power and oil consumption. Years ago I swapped out the OEM IP for a Moose pump and a fresh set of injectors. Last Septemeber I replaced the Moose with a Moose JR and fresh Conestoga...

What do y’all pull with your truck?

Nope, you are correct. The black one is an '87 4Runner with a solid axle swap and the white is a '95 also with a SAS.

Radiator leak. 90 miles from home with camper a

I had a leak develop in the radiator tubes during a trip home from Moab. The lower tubes had corroded through. I stocked up on 2 gallons of coolant and 8 gallons of distilled water. I ran the Truck hard as I was pulling a gooseneck with two Toyotas on it. I stopped several times to check on...

    My 1994 F-350 4x4 CC TD

Yes. That is the only way I've ever been successful in starting a heat soaked IP. That is the part that has me bummed out...it seems like classic heat soak.

    My 1994 F-350 4x4 CC TD

I received a solid email from Mel and he was also suspect of possibly cranking slower when warm. Although the batteries, alternator and starter are fresh I will take another look at the cables to eliminate that. I am sceptical because I can hook up the 200A engine starter/charger or my JNC...

    My 1994 F-350 4x4 CC TD

No. The starter and alternator have been replaced a couple times. The old starters took some heavy abuse with the hot starting.

    My 1994 F-350 4x4 CC TD

Unfortunately, cables look great and the batteries are a matched set. Less than a year old. It is also hazy at idle, I've never had that before.
