FWIW: I have a "Chummins". The A/C compressor is a brand-new Sanden SD-508. The A/C performance was lackluster. AC compressor & on board filtering setup.
Probably not a good idea. The compressor's job is to compress a gas -- generally R12 or R134a. The refrigerant is generally not a liquid as it passes through the compressor. It becomes a liquid again, after it cools in the condensor. WMO, is a liquid...liquids are not known for their...- bob_442

I've been using autofrost (R406A) for a few years now, and have been generally happy with it. It is a bit colder than R12.
