Damn it... new regulator installed and still low. Rock steady at 13.45V even revving up to 1500 RPM or so. This is measured at the battery posts with a multimeter.
The brushes on the old one looked fine and the surface that the brushes ride on inside the alternator did as well.
From what I can...
I think i'm buying another one for a fishing tackle station, so i'll have three!
A solid workbench alone is $250... for just a bench, why not pay an extra $100 and get a power strip and tool storage.
Ha I went through basically the same thing with my truck. Cleaning up from a plow and trailer wiring. Had a giant pile of wires. Some of the work was done with wire nuts and electrical tape.

This is the one I have. Connections pre-flared... ran some conduit and a disconnect box from my panel. Connected, vacuumed down, then...
The US General toolbox really is good. I think harbor freight sells them for roughly $200. Had it over a year, no issues. The Husky toolboxes... as you can see I liked them so much I bought two. On sale for $350 each from Home Depot. One is filled with tools, the other with ammo reloading stuff.
Not really IDI related but a lot of work on the truck is made possible by the mini split I put in a few months ago!
the reverse cycle heat is adequate for this time of year. I need to insulate the garage door and I think it will do much better. Does really well cooling. About 1k installed DIY
Leaking rear wheel seal replaced (only one side was leaking, replaced both of them) and new brake shoes, springs, adjusters and drums on both sides. Wasn't planning to replace the drums but I actually chipped one of them significantly getting it off, so it got two new drums.
My arms feel like...
I am freakin exhausted
Did brakes on the drivers side and replaced the hub seal. New shoes, new springs, new adjusters. Got passenger side about 80% apart
Im about to tackle this job.
What is the torque procedure for the nut? My Ford manual says torque to 65-75 ft lbs, loosen 90 degrees, then torque to 15-20 ft lbs
Other sources say torque to 70, then back out 5 clicks
Sorry, I was not very clear. My front fuel sender and gauge work 100% now. The sender wire from the front tank was corroded in the wiring harness (pre fsv) and there was no connection. Someone had cut into the harness there to install a trailer connector and nicked the wire.
The gauge was...
FWIW, the sender pegs out full with the sender just disconnected, the wire does not have to be grounded for that to happen.
My rear sender pegs out empty now when I switch.. perhaps that is the result if it is grounded? I haven't had a chance to fix that one yet. I will either drop the tank or...
Appreciate that. There is no fuse. I may or may not add one.
Also my aftermarket regulator and brushes arrived today. Will post outcome when I install it tomorrow.
Yeah it is grounded fine. I confirmed this by clamping a jumper cable to the alternator case and then battery negative terminal, same result.
After some more searching around I just put an order in for a new regulator/brushes.
Hey folks,
Need some help with my 3G alternator. This was installed by the previous owner. I am just getting around to troubleshooting why it is only charging the system at 13.5 volts. At both the batteries and the alternator output post (to rule out charging cable)
As far as I can tell, it’s...
Question - I need to order some rear brake pads, anyone know which size I need? Rock auto lists 12x3" and 12x2.5".
I'm guessing 12x3 is probably DRW and I need the 12.5
Edit: looks like 3" is for the sterling full float axle, which I have.
