    Project Truck - 89' F250

I'll find out later this week. The 4.10's were unbearable on the highway. I should be able to cruise at 70mph at 2100 rpm with 3.55's My egt probe was bad so I got another one ready to install. I'm actually planning to pull the turbo out, get the typ4 compressor mod, and replace the oil drain...

    Project Truck - 89' F250

I looked hard at used axles etc... but it was worth it just to cut the check. Just Under 3k for everything, including ball joints, alignment, new warn front hubs, yukon gears, new yoke and inner shafts (mine were grooved from seals). Yukon master install kits with all bearings and seals.

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Cut quite a check today to have the axles completely rebuilt, resealed and regeared from 4.10 to 3.55. Both were leaking and my front axle U-joints were shot.

How to get camber bushings out

I ordered husky spring #43498 on rock auto for about $125 each. Shipping was not terrible. They brought the front end of the truck in my signature up level with the rear. With the added weight of your winch etc... they would probably sit at the stock ride height.

How to get camber bushings out

My pivot bushings weren't terrible at around 200k miles. Replaced them anyway. I put new springs on my truck for the same reason as you - stock ones were sacked out. I used replacements that must have been for a crew cab or something. They lifted my front end about 1.5" over stock. This...

    Banks oil drain

Thanks. Probably just try to replace my grommet then.

    Banks oil drain

Of course, mine leaks. I have a first generation turbo on a 7.3 Access to the grommet is pretty bad with the turbo in. Has anyone tried putting a flexible hose on the turbo drain pipe and routing it to the valve cover or something? I could just shove a plug into the existing grommet. This seems...

    Dipstick block off plug.

I'll check that. Its a banks turbo setup so they probably tapped into that port.

    Dipstick block off plug.

Where specifically up top? Valve covers look fine

    Dipstick block off plug.

Are these only on turbos? Mine is leaking from somewhere near the rear of the engine and I haven't found the leak yet. I don't think its the turbo drain or rear main seal.

    Towing issues?

Proper boost and EGT should mean its getting enough air and fuel, and making power at the crank. Maybe a transmission problem?

So what did you do with your truck today?

If your one-way valve in the return line that goes to the filter head is working (or removed and plugged) a leak in the returns on the injectors might not cause the fuel to drain down from your filter. If you remove that fitting you can literally hear the air sucking in and the fuel draining...

    Timing meter question

OP did you ever figure this out. It seems the magnetic probe that ships with this unit is slightly larger than the kent-moore unit. Its just slightly too big for the upper slot and too small for the lower. I called DTI and they do not manufacture another magnetic probe. They suggested I could...

    injection pump timing quick question

Thanks. As much as I don't want to pull the pump off again I am pretty damn quick at it now. I'll drive it tonight and put the fuel pressure gauge back on it.

    injection pump timing quick question

Gary, fuel supply lines are new from the FSV forward. I do not suspect a restriction as it pulls great through the gears. Injectors were recently pop tested and balanced. It is idling around 700 - my tach matches what Gary's Tach-N-Time unit says. Fuel can't be more than a month old. It looks...

    injection pump timing quick question

This is with the old injection pump. I haven't changed anything except the IP and the hard line from the IP to filter head (I replaced the one you see in the video with the clear hose with a brand new line from Ford). I can easily re-install the pressure gauge and repeat this test if you think...

    injection pump timing quick question

Unfortunately I am still having a bit of an issue with it. The truck runs and drives great, it starts fine and everything else seems good. Good power, no smoke unless I stomp on the pedal. No water in oil and no oil in coolant. Pressure gauge indicates 4psi at idle at the filter head. I'm going...

    injection pump timing quick question

Well I started messing with it and now i'm at 9.7 and I can't get it any more retarded than that. Loosened the 4 injection lines I could get a wrench on and cranked it over with a ratchet strap as far as I could over to the driver's side. Any ideas? I suppose i can leave it as-is but I hate...
