    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

I put a hole in there previously. I pulled the drain tube, punched a hole, and replaced that gasket between turbo and tube. The grommet I bought did not fit. I put the truck back together because I needed to use it. It was still leaking and I did not have much time to deal with it so I took it...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

I dropped my truck off at a local diesel shop a few weeks ago to get an oil leak fixed. The turbo drain was leaking. They agreed this was the issue and pulled the turbo off to replace the grommet/gaskets. I got a call from them today and the truck is back together, however it is still leaking...

Metal Gasket for 1st gen Banks Turbo

Did some searching. It appears the metal flange gasket on my 1st gen Banks Turbo inlet is a standard T3 Garrett gasket. Is this correct? Also, anyone know if there is a gasket for the exhaust outlet pipe where it mates to the turbo. Truck is in a shop in NC, I am on a plane about to depart for...

Carter P4070 Electric fuel pump failures.

I had a fresh 10 micron fuel/water separator just before this pump. It was on a gas inboard fishing boat that I took 40-50 miles offshore and I was very particular about maintenance on it. Tank was spotless (pulled pickup and scoped it) fuel lines new, good filter.. there is no way the pump got...

new ip and injectors now wont start

3-6psi should be okay It takes a LOT of cranking to purge the air out of a new system with the mechanical lift pump. You need to crack several injectors (loosen a turn or so) and wait until you see fuel coming from them. Then tighten them up and crank some more. Give it a little gas from the...

Carter P4070 Electric fuel pump failures.

I had one of these fail with about 1.5 years and 150 hours of use. It looked and sounded fine but would not make enough flow/pressure.

Thoughts on single piece driveline on extended cab...

"Critical speed" is why we see large diameter aluminum driveshafts on newer trucks with long single piece driveshafts. Proper driveshaft design has a critical speed (rpm) that is well over the max RPM of the driveshaft. The longer you make a driveshaft with a fixed diameter, the lower the...

    AC resurrection and questions

I am in a similar situation. It was 100 degrees yesterday and AC has now moved to the top of the list over fixing my fuel tank senders and replacing cab mounts. 89' and have no idea how long the factory AC has been out. The clutch is blown on the compressor and the belt was removed a long time...

Believe he has an electric pump. If he's got a way to keep the pump running between shut down and firing back up that would rule out losing prime

    Project Truck - 89' F250

Thanks for the comments on the speedo gears. I have yet to tackle that. As soon as I got it back from the gear shop the floodgates opened on my minor oil leak. I have zero time to work on it so I finally got it into a diesel shop. The turbo was leaking from the drain and they advised pulling...

idles fine dies going down the road

Ah yes, I replaced my FSV only to find out it was working just fine. The problem was the return line for the rear tank will hold 60psi of air. I don't know how it got that clogged, but it did.

    replacing front crankshaft seal

It went from weeping to blowing oil everywhere in a day. Understand that the harmonic balancer needs to be pulled off, then there is a special tool that will extract the seal? Anyone know of a write up or thread on how to do this. Guess I just need to know what puller will work for the harmonic...

    Race Truck Options

I’d go race only. I don’t know if this is relevant or not but I used to be into four wheeling (jeeps). If I ever got back into it I would have a trailered rig. No worrying about setup to go from street to track. (Air down tires, sway bars, shock settings etc). And no worries if you break your...

HELP! I ignored y'alls advice and bought a GB Reman IP from RockAuto, screwed?

If you are seeing fuel at 3-4 lines just tighten them up and crank some more. It takes longer than you think to get it primed. Just keep the cranking down to about 15-20 secs with a few mins rest in between so you don’t burn out the starter. Also keep in mind you need good cranking RPM and hot...

    Project Truck - 89' F250

By the way anyone know what I need to do in order to get my speedo correct again. On jeeps this is usually replacing a gear in the tcase that the speedo cable goes to.
