Banks 1st Gen turbo outlet size

Not much of a change if any. Still only getting 3-4 psi pretty much wide open around 2500 rpm. On the intake side the CDR blockoff I still have not checked. Since i’ve had the truck, have pulled apart the exhaust connections at the manifolds and re-torqued them. Also done the slip joint with...

Banks 1st Gen turbo outlet size

It’s 2” Replaced that and also noticed the diesel shop I had it at replaced my intake hat gasket with an O-Ring that squished out when tightened down. Replaced that with a normal gasket I had (previously bought a 3-pack) Fingers crossed.

Banks 1st Gen turbo outlet size

Quick question. I could go out and measure this but I am at work with no tools. Anyone know the diameter of hose that connects from the turbo to the intake on a Banks 1st gen system. I am thinking its 2". I want to go ahead and order one now. Truck is not making much boost (3-4psi max). I can...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Take the tire off and spray it down with very soapy water. You’ll find the leak

    cleaning steering wheel

I'm sorry to put this in the IDI forum but I did not see where else on the site it fit in. My 89' Bricknose steering wheel is made out of some foam rubber stuff. I've wiped it down with water and soap but it just gets sticky again after a short time. I'm thinking it needs some real chemicals...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

Believe i've seen a hose barb welded to the valley pan.. then just run a flexible hose up to the turbo

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

Crap, still leaking. Its not terrible but really no change from how it was before. I havent had a chance to check out the grommet area but i'd guess its not leaking from there. Possible having two intake manifold bolts loose for so long caused the seal to go bad? Oil is mostly coming off the...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

After 2 evenings of oily swan dives the RTV is drying on my drain tube and my intake manifold bolts have washers on them and are now snugged down. Knock on wood.. if the leak is fixed that means I get to work on air conditioning Wednesday! I have all the parts just need to get the oil leak...

Got caught in a bad thunderstorm last night

Yeah when the wiper broke there was a guardrail and I could not pull off. When I pulled off I went off the shoulder to god knows what. Fortunately it was okay but on this section of interstate I could have easily gone off into a soft, steep shoulder and gotten stuck. After I sat there about 30...

Got caught in a bad thunderstorm last night

The IDI could have done a little better. I have new wiper arms on the way. The retaining clip broke and the springs are worn on both of mine. All my parts to get the AC going again are in... and I am going to try and install sunday.

    Steering stabilizer bushings.

I have a stabilizer kit in the garage I need to bolt on. Its low on the priority list at the moment. For those of you who have installed one, did it make a very noticeable difference driving around town?

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

I think I have my problem then. Thanks for the help guys! I’m going to pull the drain hose again, inspect for cracks and reinstall it with sealant. Will check the CDR block off plate as well. Also going to try and back those intake manifold bolts out and put some washers on them.

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

So the bolt that is just behind the turbo drain grommet? There is a passage through there that dumps out the back of the engine above the starter? Sorry I haven't seen one of these valley pans off the engine. If that is the case, this is probably the source of my leak.

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

I took it for a drive just now. Maybe 5 minutes, but I blasted through the gears a few times and got it up to temperature. There is now a bit of oil in the valley pan by the grommet where I cleaned everything up. And a few drops on the driveway off the starter after I parked it. Question, does...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

That makes sense. I have seen the engine hook there in pictures on other trucks but did not put two and two together! I will back those out and add washers. Hopefully I have room to get them out with the turbo in place. I'll check on the CDR hole. Problem is I don't see how it would be...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

I grabbed some leftover automotive carpet and did a swan dive into the back of my IDI. Just a little bit of oil in the valley pan behind the turbo drain. I soaked it up and idled it in the driveway for 5 minutes. The oil did not reappear, and it was not leaking a drop onto the driveway when...
