    Oil filter and wrenches??

This last oil change I left it a quart low. Next time around should be the PSD filter and 10.25 quarts and see what happens.

    Oil filter and wrenches??

That just changed things a bit on this end. Expanding oil is a new one on this gasser boy. We have all seen hydraulic oil expand, ie, auto transmission, but engine oil expansion is a new animal in this end. Fun times. Looking around my place I have come across a few new filters of various...

    Oil filter and wrenches??

So the question is, What is the proper oil capacity of a early '94 7.3 idiT? This makes me wonder if the oil, potentially being overfilled, is high enough to cause aeration by crankshaft rotation?

    Oil filter and wrenches??

This is a bit interesting. My '94 7.3 idiT, according to the stick, will take the entire 12 quarts to fill with a OEM filter. Wrong stick? Next change will be to the PSD filter just due to the extra length that might help facilitate removal not to mention the better filtration material of the...

    Oil filter and wrenches??

12 .5 quart. 12 quarts in the truck engine doesn't leave much room. That cement pail might work out for the hyd oil change on my tractor. It holds 6 gallons and comes out really quickly.

I like the oil bucket. Did you put a drain into it? Or just pour off the side?

    FUMING SMOKE out'a me ears

Well, I was driving it about 60 MPH when I heard a suspected main/rod bearing started knockin'. Drove it into a diesel shop about 1/2 mile away and that engine was woofin' and not sounding healthy. I will let them play with it Monday/Tuesday, whenever they go back to work and with a reported 6...

    FUMING SMOKE out'a me ears

(^$#^%$%&*^^!!!!!!!!! Deep breaths are NOT helping. The rebuilt 7.3idiT went south with about 6K miles on it. I can't quite blame the rebuilder on this engine, but the installer who cranked on it endlessly trying to start it after install. I had the rocker switch on the dash to turn on the...

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Welcome to Oregon. Not quite the end of the world, but you can see it from here. Uh. . . Western Oregon. It has a UFO that comes out once a year. it's called "The Sun". Water in these parts is pasteurized. It flows from pasture to pasture.

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Yeah, i went to the dealer this morning and no valve and not too much surprise. Cheaper than Napalm auto parts though. I will be picking up the larger, newer, bigger, better filters here shortly. Getting educated more each day. Someday I might learn. . . .

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Keeping oil in the engine as much as possible is a nice thing to have. Listening to bearings rattle upon startup might not be too good. Not loud, but it is present. Given enough money and time, an accumulator to pre-charge the oil system and build pressure prior to start-up, lined block...

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Green pan is anti-freeze. Black pan is oil. I went looking at Rockauto and found the only filter listed with the anti-drain back valve is the Motorcraft . . . FL784(A?) I am picking one of those up tomorrow morning and will give it a try.

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Yeah, I might be stuck playing the "poke the bear" game. Oh well. I will look into the 51734 filters onto a '94 7.3 idiT Looking at your cross member is my next large project. I couldn't find a '94 7.3idiT crewcab dually 4x4 so I am in the slow process of building one. Placement of the . . ...

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Without making a mess would be nice. I do have an 18" chisel that was attracting my attention. I think the chisel might be an option next time, but . . . Filter needs to get ordered soon enough. Local parts stores are impressively priced.

    Oil filter and wrenches??

Yeah, this potentially beat to death subject is back again, Coming due for another oil change and cussin' the thought of changing the filter with a rotten strap wrench that doesn't have enough length to spin the filter off. I used a pipe extension on one and bent it quite nicely. Now it is...

Power steering diminished after hydro-boost conversion

Fluid flow goes to the brakes first, then the steering. Steering should improve with a higher pressure pump. I believe the common pump is 4 PSI and the high output is 6 PSI. Now if i could remember where I saw that info, it might have helped before I blindly plunked down another wad of cash on...

Power steering diminished after hydro-boost conversion

Well, since you offered, I should take you up on it. Nasty part is I disposed of all my excess Saginaw pumps a long time ago. Got a source for the valve also? Thank you in advance!!

Power steering diminished after hydro-boost conversion

It was an aftermarket rebuilt whatever pump. I was hoping, without the spec sheet for that pump, it would be adequate with the OEM reservoir dual returns. Uh, not quite? So now with a rebuilt '99 F450 Motorcrapt on the way, the problem may go away. The pump 3 ears appear to be the same design...

Power steering diminished after hydro-boost conversion

Well I looked at the '99 F450 in Rockauto, found a pump with the dual return ports, rated over 8500 GVW and $146 later not including shipping, it is on it's way. The truck has taken up residence in the driveway and waits for the "Rush 3 day(?)" delivery. At least I have recent experience with...

Power steering diminished after hydro-boost conversion

'94 F350 Crew cab, 7.3 idiT Dually. I found the best way to bleed a Ford P/S system with the electric ratchet and a bolt in the nose of the pump. It turns slow enough to purge the air bubbles without foaming up. Be sure to turn the steering wheel also as you do this, generally a second person...

    Seat interchange 87 extended cab

Just got done with a hydro boost conversion on the crew cab, haven't even got the road test done yet. Looking at the extended cab 6.9 that is need of a front seat, bucket or otherwise, and wondering what years interchange. The crew cab is supposed to be on vacation this week and I have a Dana...

Pillar post gauges '94 F350 crewcab 7.3 idiT

Stupid computer. It posted this and I was still typing. Uh. . . . Am I looking to remove the OEM pillar plastic cover or add this over it?
