Timing. What I did. And a question.

I may make a trip to town today. I'll push it if I do.

Timing. What I did. And a question.

Not a problem my friend. :) And thanks for the info. I think I am going to get the kit AND the timing light. I'll try it with the probe and with the light and see which is easiest for me.

Timing. What I did. And a question.

I wasn't responding to you with that post. I was responding to CLB. You posted while I was responding to him. Thank you for your response. I THOUGHT those would be included in the kit. CLB's post had me confused, and that's why I asked. So it looks like it is as I suspected. Buy the kit and...

Timing. What I did. And a question.

So, if I buy the above kit, I still need to buy a mag probe, and a pulse clamp? And I believe I read somewhere that a timing light is also needed? Any particular kind? Any BEST kind? I'll look for the stickie.

Timing. What I did. And a question.

Got the injectors from Russ. IP came with the truck. No idea if it has been replaced before or not. 2 and a half dimes thickness, is what cured it the first time, a couple years ago. One more dime thickness hasn't seemed to do the trick. Ergo, I am looking in to getting the equipment to time...

Timing. What I did. And a question.

Ok, what do I need besides these kits? I need to know EVERYTHING I am going to need to get, aside from buying one of these kits.

Timing. What I did. And a question.

I recently replaced the injectors. Also did the new fuel filter, filled with ATF thing. Now, right off the bat, it ran smoother. I think the old injectors were badly out of time with each other. (Different pop values.) But it smokes like a banshee, on startup. White smoke. Keeps smoking for a...

    Mudflaps

Mods, if this should be in a different section, please feel free to move it. The tread lugs on my new tires are picking up a LOT of rocks on my gravel road. And then are throwing them all over the place when I am going down the road. Thinking it would be a good idea to get a set of mudflaps...

Help with hollow engine sound after bad injector

Sounds exactly like my truck. There is nothing unusual there. Maybe yours was unusually quieter before, and something has been cleaned out?

Wrap and bunch an old bath towel around it, and drive a bit.

    Cool channels cool trucks.

This one is not strictly a 'trucks' channel. But this guy is a humble, salt of the earth kind of guy. I've been watching this channel for a while now. And in this video, he introduces us to another guy, who has just started a channel. This new channel IS about trucks. (Looks like mostly old...

"87" Ford 6.9 another hard starting question...

It's all good advice. But it should be the THICKNESS of a dime. Not the WIDTH of a dime. I doubt if your engine will blow up if you change the timing by the width of a dime, but it can't be good for it, to have the timing out by that much, (if you go that far in the wrong direction.), and run...

    After changing injectors

Well, I got em swapped. I expected it to take a long time starting again. Was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it started up. Ran smoothly. No waiting three minutes or more with the lope slowly getting less, as cylinders started catching up. It almost immediately ran fine on all cylinders...

    After changing injectors

The way things have gotten, I can't afford a cup of coffee. Let alone what is needed to set the timing. No one in this area is offering. I've looked. If I could afford the setup, I'd buy it, learn how to use it, and then I would be the one offering. I set the timing on the IP by hunch. It has...

    After changing injectors

What are the biggest differences that you guys have seen after you have changed your injectors? My injectors are tired. Engine is loping. It seems that is probably because the injectors are not popping all at the same pressure any more. I replaced the fuel filter. Filled the new one with ATF...

    fight corrosion and doorlocks

Yes, I mean put pex on the pin. Here is my thread on the fix for the problem: https://www.oilburners.net/threads/door-latch-fix.89587/ Difficulty see it as the solution... Yup. I know. That's why I said you'd be amazed. I didn't think it would make much of a difference either. But it did...

    fight corrosion and doorlocks

It looks to me like that pin is bare metal. If that is the case, find a piece of 1/2" pex tubing. Cut it to the right length, and put it on that pin. You can unscrew that pin, and slip it through the piece of pex tubing, then screw it back in. You will be amazed at the difference it will...
