    Hot Transmission

Change the fluid and drive it. Most likely it was the conditions that caused it. I doesn't take much for the TCM to throw a 62 code. One little slip and this will show up.

    Hot Transmission

There is no code for overheating. Code 62 is the most common. Converter clutch failure. The TCM detects this by reading the signal from the TPS, tach, and VSS. If the signals are out of range this code will set.

    Hot Transmission

Always add any aux coolers after the radiator. The radiator is your primary cooler. Excessive heat and burnt/slightly burnt fluid is a sign of slippage. Change the fluid and drive it.

Dead e4od. What to look for first?

The tranny is shot. The only way to find what has happened is to open it up. One possibility is a broken input shaft.

    Odd E4OD issue towing

The tranny isn't running hot or or shifting weird, leave the code reader plugged in. It will be fine. Take care of the PSOM issue ASAP. The code reader is acting as a band aid right now.

    7.3 engine swap tips

Actually its easier than you think. Keep the manual wiring and PCM. Use an aftermarket tranny controller.

    7.3 engine swap tips

Split shot injectors are AD. They are not very common in 97.

    Allison 6 speed transmision?

There is no controller available for the 6R140 yet, that I know of. You will need a custom flexplate and adapter plate. Plus some $$$$.:D

    E4od Change shift points?

With the coast clutch applied you will have more engine braking..

    E4od Change shift points?

OD OFF has two functions. First we know:D. Disables 4th gear. Second function locks the coast clutch.

    E4od Change shift points?

4th gear at 35 will bog down the engine making the truck a real dog to drive. You could get away with it, but the converter should not be locked. If you really want to change the shift points, you need to go to the aftermarket for a controller.

Using 2nd gear with E4OD while towing?

Automatic transmissions are designed to shift under full load. When you back off the go peddle, the line pressure drops. This will make the shift softer, but it doesn't help save the tranny in any way. If anything there is more clutch wear from slippage.

    Thrashed E4OD/4r100

I wouldn't pull the pump the way he does it in the video. Use a slide hammer, or a plastic hammer. Doing it his way will kill your hand quickly. As for the pumps, gas and diesel use the same pump. The differences are in the production numbers. Early pre 95 are E9. Post 95 F5. In 98 F8...

    E4od Change shift points?

You will need to upgrade. 00 or 01 SuperDuty has this program.:D

    E4od Change shift points?

The most you can do to adjust the shift points is to play with the TPS. If you really want to fine tune your E4, you will need to ditch the factory TCM.

    Project Big Blue

Nothing can be done with the factory TCM. The only fix is to ditch it. Go aftermarket.

    obs with 4r100 swap

Early or late 99? Either way you cannot use the PCM. Early 99 uses non PWM so you could just change out the DTRS and solneoid pack. Late 99 is PWM. You will need to change out the solenoid pack DTRS, and front pump.

Will loose Torque converter bolts cause bad noises?

Check the flex plate for damage.

    Torque converters and shift kits

Trans Go Tugger will fix many of the shifting issues with the E4. Use the whole kit. Follow the instructions, be sure to drill the hole on the small side. Golden Helmet is correct. The factory stall is 1800+ RPM. Dropping the stall speed will take better advantage of the IDI power band.

    E4od "searching"

OD OFF will disable 4th gear only. The converter will lock up in third gear, or the RPM is over 1200.

    Confused transmission

    Scan it for codes.

    Early E4OD Output Shaft

Option 2 will work. The output shaft will have a key way for the speedo drive.

My FIPL mod for the E40d

The TPS sends a reference signal ( increased voltage) to the TCM. The TCM uses this signal to increase or decrease the voltage EPS solenoid. This is the only variable force solenoid in the pack. SS1, SS2, CCC, and CCS solenoids are on off. Changing the voltage to them will do nothing.
  24. trackspeeder

    E40D Compatibility

Compatible solenoid packs. 89-94. 95 there is a change. 95-98 is the next group. For the IDI community anything 89-94 will plug in.

    TECA

The TCM is located next to the E brake. Remove the kick panel. From the out side, remove the 10mm bolt from the harness. Pull the TCM out from the inside.
