    You will need to swap out the manual lever. Pull the pan, you will see a little roll pin. Carefully remove the roll pin. Swap out the manual lever.

    I would rule out the converter. Something is going on under the hood. Check the VSS for the ABS light and wonky speedometer.

    Replace the fitting on the radiator with a barbed fitting. Cut the damaged line back then replace it with a piece of hose and a clamp.

    Somebody must have went savage on the shift lever.:D Without the roller you can move the valve out of place. Fix this first, then try reverse again. No reveres could be a failed clutch. The only way to find out is breaking it down and rebuilding it.

    Drop the accumulator body and take a look. Look for broken or tangled springs.

    You will find it at the front of the tranny.

    Check the accumulator body for a sticky or damaged valve, broken or tangled springs. 3rd (direct) and reverse use the same clutch. If the direct drum doesn't apply you will not have reverse. So I would start with the accumulator body.

    Changing the manual lever is real easy. Don't mangle the roll pin. If you do, this will no longer be an easy job.

    Ford has no clearance spec for the low/reverse clutch pack. In stock for they usually run around .050-.060"+. The quick fix is replacing the boost valve. Sonnax and TransGo address this problem with their kits. The better way is to reduce the stack clearance. Try to keep it around...

    02 will not have a drain plug in the converter. There are write ups on how to do a flush on a 4R100.. Fluids you can use any Mercon/Dexron or Mercon V fluid. Mobil 1 or Valvoline Max Life are good to use.

    Check the alignment marks on the range sensor. If its out of alignment you will have this problem.

    Your code reader must not be picking up the codes. With the OD OFF light flashing there are codes. Sounds like the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) is failing. The sensor on the left side of the case.

    Short answer, no. The E4OD lacks the required sensors that are on the 99-03 4R100.

    You should get a stored code if the solenoid pack has failed. You could pressure test the tranny to see whats going on.

    In a short answer. Yes, The chip has to be securely mounted. If it comes loose it can easily fry the PCM.

    In a case like this, leave the OD off. If the curves and grades are really tough, manual 2nd.
