In the middle of a move and rented an enclosed 6x12 for a few days to make some laps for storage and stuff. Nothing too heavy but just bulky large items that won't fit under the truck canopy.
Have really come to like the 4.10 gearing for situations like dark, cold, heavy fog where it's worth it...
Regarding the clutch pedal you may consider looking into the "heim joint" mod but not sure that's 100% your issue
https://www.oilburners.net/threads/clutch-pedal-heim-joint-mod-complete.4529/
Right on, that makes sense and gives me a better visual for things - like why a pedal can feel mushy. So any air in a hydraulic system will cause the overall pressure to weaken throughout, rather than create "pressure points".
If a brake system is not 100% bled - but still functional/goodnuf - is there a chance this can overload and damage the front driver side brake caliper?
My thinking is since the front driver brake is the first in the system, closest to the MC, it'll get the most braking pressure.
The front...
Right on welcome to the forum! The '01 truck should have come stock with a powerstroke, believe 1994.5 was the last year of IDIs before the transition. Both are great engines - I like wrenching and don't have much money so went with an IDI.
You'll get better MPG towing with a diesel compared to gas
I don't know much but have read on here the Dana 60 has a better turning radius than the Dana 50 ttb [1]
Looks like the DT360 weighs about 500 lbs more than an IDI so a D60 might be better in that regard too.
Not sure about the SRW/DRW thing, I prefer SRW for simplicity but seems like a dually...
I think the cross hatch on the dipstick represents 2qts from min to max - so you're probably a little under a quart over filled. This could probably go either way - my truck burns/drips a qt about every 500 miles so if it were on my truck probably wouldn't worry about it. But in my opinion this...
Anyone have tips on how to loosen or tighten a through bolt solo? The nut will start to spin the bolt at a certain point and it risks messing up sealant/butyl waterproofing.
Run into this problem a lot with boats (and recently when installing an air vent onto my truck canopy) - the nut needs to...
Recently came across a video about headlight wiring on an '84 F800 and the electrical is similar/identical to our F-series (least my 88 not sure for a 94). Might be relevant for trouble shooting - I've had issues with my headlights in the past but it was corrosion on the hi/low switch on the floor.
But sticking to topic: I just do things like put the brake pedal sensor upside down so the rear lights never turn off...
Or put trim pieces on top the cab and forget about them..
Or put things inside the engine bay and forget about them...
A while back my buddy got a late 90s GM 3500 dually, think it's a 460 or close but the first fill up he put probably $100 of diesel in the tanks. It ended up all getting drained and sorted out... he's driven that thing back and forth across the country with single digit MPG the whole time - I...
Not sure about the cast piece either. The part on the GP tip kind of looks like a male spade connector to me - maybe someone was doing some crimping repair and it fell into the bore somehow.
While on the topic anyone have grease interval recommendations? Have started to use greaseless u-joints on mine but should probably re-grease what hasn't been replaced
Haha you still get to do timing belts so sounds like a win-win
Incredible someone would fly out for that but I understand it. Have lately been realizing how spoiled we are on the west coast in regards to rust/corrosion.
That's a bummer about (almost) getting totaled, city driving sucks.
@Cjross73 Not personally familiar with Reflect Tuning but some folks on tdiclub said good things about them.
Is the truck a manual? Since the truck is stationary am thinking clutch and belt components first but that's just a quick stab. Turned up the sound a bit and what I'm assuming to be the ticking seems inconsistent
Also is the sound correlated to any speed or RPMs?
Have always changed oil filters at every OCI but this has me wondering if there's any room to reuse the filter now. For my IDI I do about 3-4k miles OCI (between the 2.5 and 5k recommendations) and add a quart about every 500-800 miles.
Have always bought the 1995-A filters from Wally world and...
I might hear the ticking suound you are referring but if so it's not something i'd be concerned about personally. Do thse clips capture the sound as you hear it?
