Looking for Advice on a 7.3 IDI Turbo Build

Sorry @The_Josh_Bear I realize my statement was a bit misleading I had a sleeved block, Decompression pistons, total seal rings, coated pistons, stage 1 cam and balanced rotating assembly motor. It was n/a and I blew it up. When it blew up it destroyed the cam as well. So I know how r&d's cam...

Looking for Advice on a 7.3 IDI Turbo Build

What your asking is very doable. I even have a dyno vid of me making exactly that. 226/501. Stock turbo injection pump, 3" downpipe, ww2 in turbo, hypermax intercooler. 7 psi boost. Egts were very manageable and had good power. What I would recommend is not a ww2 but a turbo to either one of...

So what did you do with your truck today?

@Nero I remember when I put my mirror in 4or 5 years ago. Man I absolutely love it still. Me I put in a isspro ev2 gauge to replace the isspro ev1 gauge. Worst part is after I got it out I realized I had a bad connection in my own wiring. Thought I had it sorted then test drove and it failed...

The Official LUK 07-225 SMF Clutch Kit & ZF S5-42/47 Rollover Noise Poll

@nerIs spot on! Never ran a luk, but 1 autozone smf and clutch which held up amazing to what I put it through, and am now running a south bend 13" flywheel And clutch. The autozone clutch went through 3 or 4 trans fluid changes, (fluid changes not related to noise,) no change. Rebuilt motor...

Is a turbocharging a old diesel reliable?

While I agree with this If you are just turbocharging and keeping boost under 10 psi I wouldn't even worry about turning the fuel up let alone pulling the motor. It just isn't something most people can do. It is all still valid info but the turbo kits were designed to literally be a bolt on...

    4.56 gears???

That^ If you are towing heavy often I would go 4.10s. Unless you are on big tires or towing 15k often I wouldn't go 4.56 Personally I went from 4.10s to 3.55s and couldn't be happier A gasser zf5(wide ratio) with lower reverse and first would be awesome for me For you 4.10s with a wide ratio in...

a rsk adds about 1/2'' to the width of the frame horns. on obs or brick/bull. i have one on my truck no winch bumper yet. however the rsk should add a lot of frame structure at the front end especially with a lot of weight and force from a winch bumper. also the winch bumper should add some...

    Manual Transmission Oil Cooler

definitely interested in more pics, I have seen a couple setups similar to what you are describing on 3rd gen dodge (03-07) but never on a idi. I did run for a long time fabcraft pto cooler/heat sinks that add 1 qt per side of additional fluid. i ran those and a trans temp gauge until i swapped...

Alternative way to install head studs

It's so incredibly simple to pull these motors. It isn't worth it Borrow or buy a cherry picker less than 4 hours for most people and even at worst case an inexperienced person could have it out in 8 with turbo removal. Way easier to do out of engine. If you are fast, out, reseal, and back in...

    Selling upgraded drop in fans!

I can say I have not noticed any slippage in the almost year I have been running mine. Also I don't think the surface area affects our fan clutch in a detrimental way. I have a buddy running almost this identical fan, except his is 27.5" in diameter On the stock clutch. Almost a year as well...

    7.3 idi Turbo Blanket?

a true factory turbo had heat shielding on up pipes, squished down pipe, and turbo exhaust housing. my ats 093 with a full 3'' down pipe has dei titanium heat wrap on both up pipe and down pipe with plenty of clearance. and it definitely keeps heat out of the cab very well, very happy with it.

OIL PAN MODIFICATION FOR COLD WEATHER STARTING

i will say for true cold weather starting -30*f consistently i would do what was previously suggested 2a battery tender, 100w oil pan heater(just enough to keep it warm and flowing faster, the high wattage ones can get hot enough to burn the oil, but a low wattage is perfect), and factory block...

    FAN UPGRADE COOLING/OVERHEATING

Is it a new radiator? Because it sounds like it may be clogged Running down the road with a empty truck you should be 190-200*. pre fill oil filter?

Yep you are putting unfiltered oil in that goes directly to the bearings via the big hole when filling BUT unfiltered oil does a far better job lubricating bearings than no oil which for the first 3-5 seconds you won't have any oil feeding the bearings Yes they have a high volume oil pump, but...

Changing to syn. oil and what filter u running?

5w-40 syn for me starts way easier, currently running rotella, but i dont recommend it. international motors burn it faster than other oils. im running it because it was cheap and what walmart had. fl1995 filter because it adds a extra quart of oil. that extra quart and likely length dropped my...
