    Need idi timing help

I recommend NOT to time by ear. It just never works out well. Russ is the person in Oregon I recommend for timing. He has the Kent Moore J33300 meter. We have had many discussions about timing these engines. With this meter its really simple. On this forum his signon name is typ4.

Am I dead in the water

My guess about the oil leak is the injection pump housing o ring. You can easily remove the injection pump but... Make a center punch mark anywhere in the joint line between the pump and the housing. Then you can remove the pump. Clean and change the probably hardened or maybe missing o ring...

    PANIC STOP abs hell

my crewcab will do the same thing. Panic stop holds for a micro second. Then releases and you hope what is working stops you before you hit what caused the panic stop. I have the hydroboost brake system too. I feel its time to disable the abs but insurance makes me wonder about modifying any...

    injection pump timing quick question

In my pm you you I included my cell phone number. Sounds like the original setting was ok but now being 9.7 is just a bit too far. Try loosing the lines at the back of the pump AND the ones you can't reach at the injectors. My guess is you will have no problem timing what you want. I recommend...

    Stoopid owner

If the mileage is correct and its STILL on the same injection pump.. That pump is well worn out. The advance is probably slipping too. So its loud and then not so loud.

    7.3 isi injection pump tester

Its as posted above. These "machines" are cheap when you can purchase them for say $75,000.00 but... If you just want to see if the pump can shoot out fuel thru the head I say why not. If you want to connect hard lines and injectors sure... why not.But no way can you test pressure or volume of...

    ZF5 swap questions

It will be remove and install bolt and go. Reason you need the brake n clutch peddle essembly is your auto trans rig wont have the right peddle shaft. The clutch brake peddle shaft is a larger diameter. Just be sure to move the trans brackets too.

    7.3 idi injection pump

You can make this work easily. All the injection pumps fit both engines but. Many times special wrenches are required to remove the pump. NEVER remove a pump with the gear housing still connected to it. You loose the gear timing and its nearly impossible to re time the gears cause you can't see...

    Turbo Turbine: Replace?

This appears like the hot side of the turbo. Not the aluminum inlet fan side. If so.. Then you can NEVER remove this nut. Its actually part of the hot side wheel and not a nut at all.. The shaft and hot side fan are actually cast as one piece and that will not come off the shaft no matter what...

    A great loss.

Nothing wrong with "just finding out" about Calvins passing. Nobody was a stranger to Calvin very long. It continues to hurt. I see him on an idi fb group and it makes my heart race if only for a moment. My life has changed. I know plenty about the idi but my all knowing source has left a huge...

    where do they go?

The new looking crimp is not known to me but the factory looking black connector is probably for the ac clutch if you have one on this engine.

    Injection pump swap questions

Look closely at the housing mark on the auto trcuk engine and compare it with the mark on the engine you plan to install the pump on. If they are the same location just set the pump as found to the way it looked on the other engine. Its "close enough" to run. Advance it till you hear the...

Update: Front brakes won't disengage after rear brake job

Did you install the correct brake shoes??? We have two different width shoes for the back drums. This is a wild ass guess at best. If you find you DO NEED engine mounts..Make sure you get both sides..Oh yeah... There is a right and left plus they have a front and back side to them. Motor mounts/oil pan gasket

Oil pan CAN be done in the truck...But I bet you will never do it twice. The oil pump MUST be removed when the pan is till under the lifted engine. So is the suction line. The suction line has a nut holding it to one of the main bolts too. It is a horrible job.Everything falling in your face and...

    Fuel line olive part number?

The fitting at the filter inlet from the lift pump takes one olive size 3/8 inch. Then the outlet from filter to the back of the injection pump and at the injection pump takes a 5/16 size olive. Now if... And only if you have the metal tube running down the side of the intake manifold from the...
