timing aids
Great hand tool made for a specific job. Every timing meter I rent out has a 5/16 drill bit and several other tools to simplify the timing of our engines.Just be careful working that tall probe hole. Fuel tank lock ring troubles
The ultra copper plus works great on gas, diesel or anything ya got. Possibly you "could make an o ring slightly larger in diameter than the original one you have that leaks now.- icanfixall

PLUG ON TOP OF WATER PUMP USE??
Honestly you are WAY over thinking this. Do this really simple suggestion. Remove the heater hose from either the head connection or the heater core at the firewall. then as you refill the engine this allows trapped air to escape. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like the pump internals are gummed up. Please remove the filter and replace it but... Fill the new filter with any brand auto trans fluid.Then get the engine running till you hear a different engine running sound and shut down the engine. What your trying to do is...- icanfixall

Possibly buyin a new truck
Well that sucks... Hope it got a good new home.. Had you purchased it the trans weighs around 300 lbs. Trying to remove and install it yourself requires a trans lift and getting the lowest edge of the truck at least 29 inches off the ground. Fuel tank lock ring troubles
use some super glue on the o ring seal to the tank. Then it will hold in place. In my harpooning of both tanks I used permatex ultra copper plus rtv to seal in the new air vents. I put that shit of everything...- icanfixall

Ignition "thing" Broke
I just replaced the actual ignition switch bout 2 months ago. I recall how tuff it was to replace the thingy about 15 years ago. If I could tig something you bet I would fab up something to last..but maybe these are designed to fail so something else more expensive does not fail..Nope... nothing...- icanfixall

How can i tell what year this motor is?
Welcome to the forum. An engine serial number is found on the drivers side of the block top near the injection pump gear housing edge.Clean off the dirt usually shows them very well.- icanfixall

Ignition "thing" Broke
Not happy today.... That silly ignition switch pot metal piece that is attached to the rod that activates the ignition switch broke today at the dirt store.... REALLY PISSED ME OFF TOO... Well you appear to have found the issue but.. Finding out why this happened needs to be before you run this engine again. Usually just replacing bent pushrods and not fixing the reason they bent will cause it to happen again.Try laying a straight edge along the tops of the valves. See if any of...- icanfixall

Anyone ever had a wrist pin walk on them?
Yes they have escaped their groove but VERY seldom just the same. My thoughts are the failures MUST have been installed wrong. Even in our low rpm beasts we do have a correct position for the ends. Remember goggle is your friend.- icanfixall

From your vid sound clip it sounds to me like a valve train issue. Pull the valve covers and look at the valves. Might be a lifter or a bent pushrod.- icanfixall

That appears to be installed correctly and has plenty of adjustment. Those star bolts are the ONLY bolts needed to adjust this switch. Please make sure the plugs you purchase really are the original ford Motorcraft or at least the same plug International will use. So if you want the safe amount you need to tell this forum if your rig has a pyrometer to tell you what the exhaust temp is.
