    Soo what happened???

@ttman4 Are you with T-Mobile / Verizon? Note the scare page is designed to incite panic, and offers resolution by taking their offer. i don't have any confirmation of malware on our end yet. It appears to me to be phishing using DNS to send us to their scare site. I entertain the notion...

    Soo what happened???

@Clb... I see you are also coming from California... Are you using T-Mobile / Verizon ISP? Being it appears it's just us two noting this, and it's the same site ( which looks flakey to me ), I get the idea we two just got caught up in a network DNS glitch. IDIoit posted above a missing...

    Soo what happened???

Whatever it was...it is now working properly. I did try it without the www, and got the same misdirect I was getting. It may have been a network config error at the ISP. I re-examined my logs.. I was indeed trying to connect to www.oilburners.net This is my screen: note the www exists...

    Soo what happened???

@snicklas I was getting something similar...getting redirected to some site that apparently parks expired domain registration. Edit: after seeing clb's reply, looks like we aren't all getting the same redirect page. I am convinced someone is trying to scam us. Note the fear mongering. I am...

    Old paint help?

You piqued my interest. Apparently, the company who made the liquid glass went out of business, then someone resurrected the brand, but it doesn't seem to be the same stuff. This is what I found on Amazon reviews .. Note the dates...it's the new stuff...

    Back to automatic glow plugs

I saw a concern the switch is taking valuable dash space. I agree The dash wasn't good for me either I like the bottom seat frame, left hand side rear ( very close to my butt ), it's spring-loaded bat handle facing the driver door. Its protected from accidental operation there, and is easily...

    Back to automatic glow plugs

Sometimes, the problem is in the relay. I had several relays fail on me. I suspect aluminum contacts. The coil current on my original relays was 4 amperes. Almost pure inductive. Its hell on a cheap switch. I had some old spring-return toggle switches salvaged off old WWII military stuff...

    E4od questions/trouble

Weird...now that sounds to me like an internal transmission problem involving damaged bands...has it been slipping? I don't know of any state of the control solenoids that would kill all forward, but leave reverse still working. I guess you could try unplugging the valve body solenoid cable...

    Rockauto "out of business"?

It's a shame they simply don't give us a coupon code to post in the vendors area. Then they will know it's this site that's sending them the business.

    E4od questions/trouble

Erratic tach, vss, and TPS signals WILL cause really erratic and random PCM actions. So will a misadjusted TPS. Inova makes an inexpensive code reader. Model 3145. This one works with our E4OD: https://www.amazon.com/INNOVA-3145-Ford-Digital-Reader/dp/B000EW0KHW/ One of these may come in...

89 7.3 do with transmission issue

My understanding is that the mechanical position of the gear select lever will still give you Park, Reverse, Neutral, L1, and L2, however all shifting to the higher gears, Coast Clutch, and Torque Converter Lockup Clutch requires the PCM. Now, it's been my experience that my PCM, given terribly...

Thanks for the report! You know, every time we use this forum, we not only help ourselves, but also the hundreds of guests who drop in just to read our stories. I have sure learned a lot from just reading the forums here...and more. There is one member here who left a lot of guidance on...

    1991 7.3 starter ?

Think I'd rather have cancer than DV. Unfortunately, hate is regenerative, just like love is. Our competitive society of winners and losers foments greed, with gloating winners and resentful losers. Once "Satan" ( selfishness, greed, domination ) shows up, there goes a peaceful and...

    Still smoke issue

I get the idea you just did. I believe the torque converter is the first thing the engine shaft is connected to which feeds the transmission, and it's purpose is to allow the vehicle to come to a dead stop while the engine is running...a fluidic clutch, so to speak. Had the torque converter...

    Still smoke issue

I am presently chasing something similar...and it seems to have something to do with my transmission controller. It comes and goes. Right now, it's showing up again. I am pretty confident I have a bad connection somewhere in the TPS circuit, and I am tracing through with an oscilloscope to...

    Still smoke issue

Yup. But a misadjusted FIPL sensor ( TPS ) will sure make the transmission controller do strange things!

Ashtray suddenly only opens half way.

Since I do not smoke, I just removed it completely and used the vacant hole as a place to tuck my flashlight and a pair of 7/16 wrenches that fit the 1/4 inch SS hex bolts that secure my battery cables, all rolled up in a cloth bag and "jammed" in place.

89 7.3 do with transmission issue

Thanks! I haven't tried this with no controller, just parroting back what I understood from what I have read about. I was under the impression that the 2 and 1 on the PRNDL gear select lever on the steering wheel overrode all else ( but I have observed that the TC or coast clutch operation...

89 7.3 do with transmission issue

It is my understanding one should have reverse, 1, and 2 if the transmission is intact, regardless of the controller. That is the "limp home" mode. I am still going through an intermittent transmission problem, shows up every few months, then goes away, only to show up again. Everything in...

89 7.3 do with transmission issue

Be careful. Verify "Park" is working! The parking pawl in the transmission may not be able to keep you from rolling away. Does manual 1 or 2 work ( steering wheel lever ) ? Chock your wheels. Especially if you are even thinking about a jack or going under the truck. Are the drive shafts...

    1991 7.3 starter ?

Does the starter speed vary in a pattern, like a musical beat? If so, is it consistent with the revolution of the starter motor? ( If so, suspect starter commutator/brush problem . Did fuel or oil get IN the starter and glaze ( like burned-on dinner in the frying pan ) on the starter...

6.9 IDI E350 Van died while running, and no longer cranks

I'd still check the fluids first...the coolant and oil was the last things that passed through that engine, and their condition may give clues to what happened...and loosen the belts and retry moving the crankshaft. Maybe another quick starter try with the IP fuel solenoid wire pulled.. seems...

6.9 IDI E350 Van died while running, and no longer cranks

Before disassembling the engine, try removing the belts. A bearing on some driven shaft may have seized. I note my IDI will issue heavy black smoke if it's heavily loaded at low RPM, and here's hoping that your IDI load was something like an alternator, A/C compressor, or similar whatnot...
