Everything else aside because I realize how bad this is, kayaking through town sounds like a blast!

    Starting issues

Odd that it didn't do it before. I'll have to time mine and see how long it runs for.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

    Starting issues

That's normal actually if it's only for a few seconds after starting. That's the glow plugs running the "after glow" cycle. Nothing to worry about. That just shows how much power the glow plugs pull.

the best way ive found to check compression

Not at all applicable to your builds lol! I'm still surprised how long that last engine put up with the abuse!

the best way ive found to check compression

Is there any benefit other than being roller and adjustable? Are they the same ratio as stock? I know it's a pretty hefty chunk of change.

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

That's why I said I'm curious how you feel once it's done. You've had both IDI and PSD and it'll be interesting to hear what your opinion is of all three comparatively.

    Diego Revisited

I never buy bulbs at the parts store for that exact reason, but I needed them now and it was convenient. Honestly I'm hoping I'll never have to touch them again too but we'll see how that works out. I actually got the cheap ones, they had a pair for $27 too!

    Diego Revisited

Yeah I get that but it still seemed excessive to me. I can't really complain too loud, I paid like $14 for 5 bulbs shipped as opposed to the $22 I paid for 2 locally. Really I was just getting nervous because I have to get it inspected this week. I was running out of time!

    Diego Revisited

Getting ready for safety inspection. On November 29th I ordered 5 of these https://www.superbrightleds.com/194-led-bulb-3-smd-led-miniature-wedge-base They finally showed up Yesterday the 17th...... Less than impressed with shipping time. While I was waiting for them to show up I noticed the...

    How big are these engines??

I've heard of a couple stuffed into squarebodys. They're similar in size to a gas big block. I don't think they're as long as a 6bt but I've never had any reason to measure. I would imagine if the 6.5 and 6bt both fit you should have room to stuff a 6.9/7.3 in.

    Headlight switch weirdness!

I had a similar weird issue that turned out to be a fuse was bad. The lights worked in just the right spot because it was back feeding through another circuit. I can't really remember the details but have you triple checked the fuses?

    What is this part?

I think technically it's an amplifier and relay. I remember seeing something about it boosting the signal from the actual water in fuel sensor but I don't really know any specifics.
  22. chillman88

    What is this part?

No clue. I only know about it because I dug it out of the harness on my 91 and looked it up on Google LOL

    One rear brake locks up

The problem with oily brakes is the shoes actually absorb some of the oil. The only way to clean them is as franklin2 said, you have to burn the oil out with a torch. Certainly not something I would expect to be a solution unless it's all you can do. That seal will need to be replaced though...
