    OD worth the $ ?

I have 4:10 (C5) axle unless someone has done a swap. 235/85/16 tires. The few times I was on the highway I drove at 68mph Most folks were going 80mph). I haven't hit the governor but I assume that I was close. The tach. doesn't work. The heaviest towing I do is my boat twice a year. 3 mile trip...

    OD worth the $ ?

Bummer. That was the choice that I was leaning towards. I wasn't aware that the RPM change isn't significant. Sounds like that would have been an expensive mistake.

    OD worth the $ ?

That was my initial thought way back when. But I think I was told that it would be a nightmare due to having 4wd?

    OD worth the $ ?

So I've had my IDI for 1 1/2 years. I'm not in love with it (yet?) but I'm pretty much committed to keeping it for the rest of my time on this planet. I like the simplicity so that I can do many repairs myself. That is the main reason I bought it. I got fed up with sensors and computers and all...

    Worth fixing.

I stumbled onto this article and it reinforced why my brain chose to get rid of my modern SUV and keep my 1985 Benz and also buy a 1987 F250 IDI 4wd ext. cab. And it reminded me of how important you all are in our (motoring) lives. This is such a great group. Thank you for being here. It's a...

    Broke down

I replaced my IP and injectors recently and I don't currently have any "gremlins". I replaced the fuel filter due to this break down and all is well now. I agree that it, initially, seemed electrical since it shut down like a switch was turned off. But the only electrical once it's running is...

I haven't noticed any electrical grounding issues. And my FSS was clicking when I was trying to start it.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

I don't think mine (1987) has clear coat. Not sure, though. My 1985 Benz does not. And the paint is pretty thick (as seen where rocks chipped it). But, again, I just want to throw something on this hood to get me by.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

I'm sure the rest of the truck would buff out to be very nice. It looks pretty nice now. The hood is toast. It's an eyesore. Even a 15 minute job with a can from the dollar store would have to look better.

I did that but the fuel in the jar looks fine after a few days. Nothing has separated. I will cut the filter apart to see what might be in there. It has less than 2k miles on it.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

The only part that looks bad now is the hood. So I'm going to do a temporary something. Even with proper equipment and paint I don't have any experience with it so I will likely do more harm than good. I am not inclined to do anything more than a half-azzed job (as the title states) on the hood...

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

That looks like it's in my pay grade. ;-) Thanks. What's the worst that could happen? I have to bring it to a pro. anyway.

Will do. I am baffled, too. And I have the fuel sample settling in a glass jar. All I know at this point is that a new fuel filter got it running again and I drove 10 miles after that with no problems. I couldn't even get a hiccup before I changed the fuel filter. After the new filter (and...

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

That may be the better option rather than trying to half-*** blend it in with the rest of the truck. Maybe a "Don't Tread On Me"? p.s. I have bald eagles around here. I don't like hearing them. I wish I could just watch them and not have them open their mouths. They sound much too wimpy for our...

New to me f350 what to do

We can't say without more info. I think I'd try to see what it'll do in it's present condition before I spent the $ on new batteries.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

Getting into the fenders (which look fine) is definitely out of my league. And I'd probably even be dangerous with a buffer. Is the acrylic single-stage that you mention available in a rattle can? Can I do more damage than good with it? I would mask off everything around the hood, sand the rust...

    Need some knowledge

I was reading this thread last week and then my truck broke down on Sunday. The flatbed guy that came to pick me up was having me steer it onto the ramp from a bad angle and I had no power. I was horsing the wheel with both hands and thinking about this post and my rag joint. Not fun.

    Half-azzed paint job advice?

My original paint all looks pretty good but the hood paint is baked to a crisp and looks pretty bad. I don't know why the top edges of the front fenders aren't also? I don't have the $ to put into a whole truck paint job right now. And I have no experience with painting. Do you think I can do a...

It is sorted out, I assume. I may have gotten some dirty fuel so I'll be carrying a spare fuel filter and Mity Vac in case this happens again before my my normal fuel filter change schedule, which is now off schedule as I plan to change the fuel filter when I change the oil and oil filter. I...

    Broke down

I sucked fuel from the Shraeder valve into a glass jar using a Mity Vac. I have that sitting to see what settles out. I pulled an injector line and cranked the engine and I was getting fuel pulses out of it. So I was at a loss as to what could be keeping it from running other than water in the...

There was no warning. Just shut off. The rear tank and selector valve have been bypassed so that option isn’t available. No water drain valve on my filter. No wetness at the lift pump (or anywhere) but the lift pump is shiny so looks to have been replaced within a few years? Maybe it's one of...

    Broke down

Luckily I joined AAA about a month ago. First time in my life. Brought me and the truck home 77 miles. The fuel stop was an independent so I’ll have to hope they want to make it right if it was the fuel (what else could it be?). It’s not like there’s a “corporate” that I can appeal to. The...
