Cooler air is more dense and can help combust fuel better than less dense, hotter, 'underhood' air...and...since the inlet for the tube is out front, at the nose of the truck, it provides a 'ram-air' effect while you are going forward..(at speeds faster than walking speed). I believe the reason he said that was from experience....repeat or pattern failures...I have a couple of thoughts on that which might shed a little light on the situation... Pioneer FRA205 for an '86 Crown Vic Definitely looks a little more AOD-like... Sorry about the mis-direction...I was taking a stab at it without the benefit of my industry-vendor catalogs... Hey Buddy, According to rock auto...when you look up either an '84 or '86 the same flywheel comes up...I would use a pioneer part before an atp.... FRA202 Pioneer. Hey, Gotta tell you... The flexplate has a different back spacing on an FMX than a C-6... I have built a number of FMXes that wiped a pump because of it. It was miserable getting all that metal contamination out of everything good enough to not have sticking valves in the valvebody and...- XOLATEM

Yet another heads thread
I would not use WD-40 on the bores...just oil... I tried that on a 302 with real good pistons one time long ago and it ruined the pistons...pitted all around the ring lands... That was an expensive and disappointing lesson... What do you want for the valley pan..?- XOLATEM

For sale, Motorcraft fan clutch for 6.9/7.3
According to the part number...that part was originally installed on a 1992 Ford van body. It may be the same thing as a truck fan clutch because a lot of stuff will interchange. It may be rated for higher duty because of the extra underhood heat that a van engine compartment has as opposed...- XOLATEM

What is this ignition switch part, and where should it go?
Whenever I encountered a buzzer device I would disconnect it or take it out and save it for examination later...thinking about it now...they all should have gotten the sledge massage... Do you have a drip pan for your engine stand..? If not...I belief Summit Racing Equipment could fix you up...helps keep the potential mess contained...too nice of a floor to soil...but that is just me... Looks like you are rocking along...good job...- XOLATEM

New guy to the IDIs
I remember reading about the RM-125 when it was first introduced... I was motoring around on a SL-70 that I had spent the summer shaping up to putt around on and trying to jump it...not enough power... Could barely pull a wheelie... I second the practice of clearing the codes after you document them and then starting fresh with a drive cycle. Then you see what comes back and then concentrate on fixing the condition that makes the code or other codes show up. I might be fulla stuff...but I always had the idea that...- XOLATEM
