    Clock Spring

I also was surprised that it corrected the heater controls. Doesn't seem logical they would be related.

    Clock Spring

Air Bag light on in dash, cruise does not work, horn does not work, and heater controls stuck on defrost. A little research tells me to replace the clock spring and yep, it solved all of the issues except the air bag light is still on. Appreciate any advice on what to check next. My truck is a...

    Where's everyone at?

Been loving my crewcab powerstroke since getting it back together. Still working out a few bugs, planning to have it painted this summer. About 3000 miles on it since putting it back on the road. Going to start using it for my annual hunting trips to northern Maine. It's wonderful on the 4 lane...

7.3 IDI Turbo Build for '87 Crew Cab Dually 4x4

There's an excellent machine shop not far from you located in southeast Pa. (Miller's Machine Shop). They did work for me on a set of powerstroke heads. Very pleased with their work.

What to look for in a truck that's been lifted?

Black truck in my sig has stock F350 suspension + 2.5" front leveling kit with factory aluminum wheels and 35" bfg tires. Many miles, no issues. The 3" lift might be a body lift?

You can also buy zinc rich "cold spray galvanizing", we used it at work for touching up areas where the coating was thin. ASTM a123 dictates a processing standard and includes multiple coating thickness. The price tag seems reasonable to me however to someone living outside the rust belt may...

    '94 F350 Carrier Bearing Drop Spacer / 3" lift

Didn't notice anywhere you mentioned what the original frame was prior to adding F-350 Axel's and suspension. If it was 4x4 F-250 I think you'll be fine with the stock location of the carrier bearing. The black truck in my sig started life as an F-250 and I added the same F350 components as you...

OH MY! That looks awesome! How well did it penetrate at the overlap areas where individual cross members intersect with main outer frame rails? Traditionally those are not problem areas for rusting, just curious how well the hot dip process worked.

    another smoke video

Only thing I see that's concerning is the air intrusion. To me the engine sounds healthy and the smoke appears normal for start up especially if it's cold. Electric pumps usually work best when they push fuel and with the pump located near the selector valve bad fittings and cracked fuel lines...

When they quoted you price for galvanizing did they also include coating thickness? Hot dip galvanizing is typically rated G20 thru G90. G90 is often specified in government specs and likely what's used on the guardrails you mentioned. Even at the low end of the scale you're going to have a...

Your thoughts on my reliability problems

Yeah if the IDI has a compromised foundation (frame), I'd be cautious investing any money or time. If / when you decide to sell it, the frame issue will almost certainly reduce what you can get for it. If you already have a lot of new parts installed, might be worth looking for a similar truck...

Your thoughts on my reliability problems

Both can be very reliable. The powerstroke looks nice however appearance doesn't necessarily translate to "reliable". Another trend to consider is fewer and fewer people do their own maintenance, therefore very often good vehicles are sold at reasonable prices when the owner is faced with a high...

    Jesus Freak's WMO IP thread

I'd guess living in warmer location would make a huge difference because viscosity makes a huge difference. Our search engine seems sporadic so I didn't even try, however if memory serves, Mel from Conestoga had a pretty good thread on this. It was years ago and he's a top notch IDI guy. I don't...

"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

I use a garden sprayer with diesel and motor oil mix to spray everything under body. Always spray liberal amount up and over the inner rear fenders because that seems to be another repetitive place I notice our trucks rusting. Also drip the clean motor oil inside the tailgate until it drips out...

"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

Just before winter I park my truck on a slight grade and drip clean motor oil in the door latches . As it gravitationally flows to the bottom of the door it follows the pinch weld until reaching the weep holes and runs out. It acts as a corrosion resistant in an area that's difficult to protect.

Starting an 093 turbo install on my 91 F350

I installed an 093 on mine years ago and recall removing a patch of firewall insulation plus making cuts in the pinch welds so they can easily be bent over. I used a powerstroke down pipe and mounted the glow plug controller on the firewall. Also used a slip on heat shield over the wires. It...
