Just finished replacing injectors and have some of those same concerns / questions: do injectors tell a story similar to spark plugs? I can't speak to product quality just yet however I will say the transaction was immediate and shipped same or next day. The product was in stock, well packaged, and shipped timely. So far zero complaints. Truck is in garage now with hood open, I'll let you all know how they work.- catbird7

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else
Since the rad had antifreeze in it, a quick way to determine if in fact it is water infiltration thru the air cleaner would be to take a sample of that grey liquid and put it in your freezer. Obviously if it freezes, there's a good chance the head gaskets are OK.- catbird7

Sticky Throttle
pumping the throttle doesn't seem to make a difference. This injection pump and injectors have been in place for 10 years and nearly 100'000 miles on mostly wmo mix so if i need to replace both I'm OK with it. Ticking seems to be present both warm and cold therefore I'm hoping it's not valvle...- catbird7

Sticky Throttle
Periodically noticing that my throttle is sticking. I put a new cable on it years ago, however i wonder if this is a cable issue of pump problem. This truck also recently started making a noticeably louder ticking noise. Not sure if they're related or not??? I bought a new set of CDD "stock"...- catbird7

As they say, "every critter can be caught with proper bait". For me it was that rifle! My wife bought that for me 35 years ago just before I asked for her hand. Since then it has remained my favorite rifle and it has taken many deer.- catbird7

First Truck need Help
I know you have a 4x2, however for guys with 4x4, shifting the transfer case into low range with hubs unlocked makes backing up heavy trailers much easier.- catbird7

Need brighter reverse lights....
Freind of mine who does snow plowing as a side gig made up a set of bright reverse lights with magnetic base. They simply plug into his trailer hitch wiring plug. When not plowing they're easily removed and stored behind the seat.- catbird7

Leking fuel at the rear tank
Considering where you live do yourself a favor and replace the tank with a plastic one. This will also require buying gasser sending units which are much easier to locate because they were much more common. Buy the assembly minus the intank fuel pump. When I'm welding thin sheet metal I use .023 wire and bump up the shielding gas. Also it seems the thinner the material, the cleaner the metal needs to be + the quality of your ground connection is important. 1989 7.3 IDI - hard starting & hitting a brick wall
I agree it sounds like a glow plug issue, or at least given the info provided that's where I'd start. The fact it starts without issue when it's plugged in, reinforces the notion it's a glow plug or glow plug wiring issue. Possibly pull one of the plugs, reattach the wire, then turn the key...- catbird7

Unloaded I think it's 14 to 16, depending how it's driven {rural vs highway}. Yes, it's heavy and the addition of a commercial 19.5" wheel & tire combo didn't help with power or fuel economy. Love the truck, can't wait to finally finish it off with a paint job however these frontend conversion...- catbird7

I should've updated on this final issue with the truck. The noise was due to bellhousing bolts that were loose. Been driving truck all summer and fall including a recent 1900 mile hunting trip to northern Maine hauling slide in camper. Zero issues, other than extremely poor mpg. She only got 10...- catbird7

So what did you do with your truck today?
you can add years to tail gate and door life / protect them from rust by simply dripping some motor oil inside the hole where the latch is located. the oil will find it's way into all of the pinch weld seams and dramatically reduce rust.- catbird7

Another thought, next time the light comes on flip to the other tank. If the light goes out, it's likely a clogging issue.- catbird7

Just one more thing to consider, before assuming it's the pump, next time the light comes on disconnect the fuel line at the pump and apply compressed air back into the tank ( remove fuel cap first).
