    Crewcab Project

Yep, hunting season is just about over and I've started working on it. After cleaning things up a little under the hood I found a pleasant surprise, it has a rather large BD turbo on it! I called the previous owner and he told me the turbo was only three months old prior to the electrical fire...

    Electric Fuel Pump

I'm thinking about the longevity of factory Ford parts, readily available replacement parts, plastic tanks. Parts for gas powered trucks are going to be easier to find as these trucks age. Shower heads and fuel level sending units are already an issue.

    Electric Fuel Pump

Tons of treads regarding electric fuel pumps. I was wondering, has anyone ever tried a Ford factory in tank e-pump designed for gas engine with a pressure regulator?

    What else do you drive?

Well the Volvo sold for nearly $3000 over kbb value. Bidders at an auction are an unpredictable bunch and sometimes totally irrational. We ended up finding a really nice Lincoln MKZ. One owner, traded for another new Lincoln at the same dealership says alot for the car and the dealership.

    What else do you drive?

Mercedes e350 4matic until about three weeks ago when I totalled it! Been driving the old idi and shopping for another daily driver. Found a nice Volvo XC70 with only 12,000 miles. Its scheduled to be sold at an estate auction early next week and I'm planning to be there.

    Fuel tank decision.

Removing the valve from the fuel system simply requires bypassing the supply and return lines around it. No need modifying the wiring so long as you remember the FSV switch in the dash only controls the gauge reading.

    Caliper hanging up?

I don't know exactly why it works however very often the rubber flexible lines have a metal tab wrapped around them to support it and if you remove that tab the calipers return to normal operation.

    NEED HELP ASAP ELECTRICAL ISSUE

I'm not a wiring expert however the lighting circuit on these trucks is a known issue. Typical failure points are the headlight switch and the dimmer switch. Again I'm not a wiring guy however most common advice for correcting is replacement of failed switches followed by a wiring harness...

    Rear Tank Help

Flipping thru the channels the other night and the classic "smokey and the bandit" was on. I paused on the channel long enough to notice diesel fuel price sign that said .47 cents per gallon! I remember those days when diesel fuel was far cheaper than gasoline. Also remember when gas prices...

    Fuel light on

Recently had the same problem and I also started by replacing the fuel filter and considered replacing my 10 year old Holley Red pump when a friend suggested trying a quart bottle of Power Service Clear Diesel fuel & tank cleaner. The container tells you it makes 100 gallons however I dumped a...

    Fuel Pressure

Thanks for the info I'll have to look up an exploded view of it and check that out. At this point however I'm fairly certain this clogging issue is in my tanks. Recently took the truck on a fairly long road trip and the problem occurred shortly after returning. Possibly picked up two tanks of...

    Grinding shift, Now gone?

My guess, hydraulic clutch leaked a little while in storage, and after pressing and releasing the clutch pedal numerous times shifting gears you eventually pushed all the air out. Check the reservoir it may be low.

    Fuel Pressure

Think I may have solved \ identified the problem. Friend suggested it might be clogged tank pickup and told me to add full bottle of Power Service "Tank Cleaner", so I tried it on the front tank and so far ( knock on wood), no filter light! I'm going to run this full tank of fuel through it and...

    Lost another Champion Radiator.

I had similar luck with champion and did the same thing you're suggesting. My re-cored factory rad isn't as pretty as the fancy aluminum champion however zero problems since replacing. After mine was finished I learned Ford actually had five row in some trucks. The five core might be worth...

    Fuel Pressure

Should have also mentioned that sometimes the engine surges and the filter light does not turn on.

    Fuel Pressure

Thanks for the info guys! Just checked my records and found this Holley red pump was installed 10 years ago so it likely is the problem. I have a new spare that I take with me when traveling so I guess it's time to install it and buy another spare.

    Fuel Pressure

Can fuel pressure be measured at the Schrader valve? Is the Schrader valve pressure reading "before" or "after" the filter? And what is the acceptable pressure range? I'm having an issue with the filter light coming on. Obviously the first thing I did was replace the filter however the problem...

    ATF to unstick lifter?

Quick test might be filling fuel filter with atf, start engine and listen for improvement. If there's no change it likely isn't an injector.

How to use twin fuel tanks?

Just another approach to consider, you might consider letting your tanks right where they are and remove your bed. Laying under the truck gets old quick and removing the bed also eliminates the need to drain tanks. Would also give you the perfect opportunity to clean and paint your frame.

    Road Trips

Fuel prices are definitely worth investigating prior to taking off. Typically PA has some of the highest prices per gallon however northern Maine topped the list on our trip @$3.41 per gallon. Lowest was $2.17, huge spread and the coins add up quick when you're buying 30 something gallons per stop.

    Road Trips

Wow! This ricocheted into an area I never anticipated nor care to participate.... I hoped we could share on the road experiences while driving our idi's. I've also experienced some of the negatives associated with our current situation however see no benefit dwelling in the negatives nor attempt...
