DIY return line junction block ideas?

Since I have everything disassembled under the hood now I was wanting to make a new junction block for the return lines on the driver side rear of the engine. Basically the OEM one works but the orientation of the barbs makes for an awkward connection going from #7 to #8 because I route the...

    Looking at buying 6.9

A quality set of injectors and a good IP can make all the difference in the world as to whether or not you like your truck. I recently purchased from R&D IDI and am very satisfied--$850 for IP after core deposit refunded, $420 for injectors. The only thing about a 6.9 that puts me off a bit is...

    Coolant additive

No. I did use a Blue Devil brand flush but I think the key is to use a ton of hose water to flush out the block. When I first bought my '91 I found a ton of grit in the system but because I'm on well water I was hesitant to use any. I filled with distilled, drove around, drained, and did this...

    Coolant additive

I considered going with the SCA charged filter but I decided that it made more sense to test and then swap out the coolant since crud and grit seems to accumulate over time. 4 gallons of FleetCharge, some distilled water, and an afternoon every 4-5 years isn't too bad. Plus I am now a bit...

Never mind--solved--Question re: removing cylinder heads

Got 'er done. The 1 ton worked fine after removing the wheel and going from the side, but it was a close fit to center the lifting eye over the cylinder head. The ol' back was a little talkative after removing all the headbolts.

Never mind--solved--Question re: removing cylinder heads

So I'm at the point where I'm ready to pull the heads and I have the 1 ton Harbor Freight cherry picker but the arm doesn't extend out far enough to get a good vertical lift on the heads. It appears that going in from the side after removing the wheel will be the best option to get a...

    Buying a spare engine?

People on Fbook are terrible about deleting postings after they are sold. And a lot of people are not interested in a "crappy 6.9/7.3 IDI". Within 200 miles from my location there are always at least a half dozen ads on Marketplace for IDI engines of various condition--most ads are over 6...

    Oil Filter for 1993 7.3 IDI Non-Turbo....Baldwin B7039?

Donaldosn P550371 is what I've been using. Efficiency at 99% is 17 micron and the price is okay.

    Clutch Pedal Sticking

I would investigate the connection between clutch master pushrod and clutch pedal swing arm & bushing. There may be some wear and slop in the connection that is causing your pedal issue.

Need an overdrive for my 1986 Ford 6.9 diesel

The E4OD isn't half as bad as people make it out to be. Yes the early ones sucked and failed prematurely, but with proper cooling and fluid changes they can be quite reliable. And since you're swapping everything in it gives you the chance to make sure the wiring and all electrical connections...

    Fuel pressure question. Insufficient flow?

How is this an improvement over a selector valve? I haven't had to investigate very far but is it impossible to find a good selector valve? Knock on wood several times but I've never had an issue with the FSV.

    Clutch Pedal Sticking

I recently replaced the clutch pedal swing arm that connects to the clutch master push rod and as I recall the swing arm needs to be positioned/clocked so that the push rod connects easily without having to move the swing arm. Basically I did it and had the same problem with the pedal sticking...

Aftermarket #1 injector line & timing problems

I measured a couple of the factory steel lines and all my readings were about .250-.255, so right about 6.35mm. This matches up with my experience where the only way I could get a stable RPM reading on the aftermarket line was by tightening the line clamp much more than normally required.

Retuning a turbo spec IP to N/A?

Well after a lot of minor adjustments it seems that turning IN the torque screw 2-2.5 flats made the most difference in terms of proper fueling over the full throttle range--before making any adjustments I only had about 5/8" travel between idle and WOT. The internal fuel adjustment seemed to...

1990 F-250 HD 7.3 IDI Turbo Replaced Radiator and did not take pics nor label!…

The ATF cooler in the bottom of the radiator doesn't care which way you hook up the lines--no designated 'In' or 'Out' connections. Aux coolers ought to be the same but it's worth double checking to be certain.

Aftermarket #1 injector line & timing problems

I have read countless forum posts regarding timing and many other aspects of these old trucks but I am surprised I never came across anyone mentioning that either #1 or #4 could be used for timing. This is a useful piece of info especially as parts age, fail, and are replaced with "close but no...

Aftermarket #1 injector line & timing problems

I incorrectly assumed there must've been a timing adapter or something for the #4 line on vans. So just attach the clamp to #4 line and that's it?

Retuning a turbo spec IP to N/A?

CCs? CCs?!?! We don't need no stinking CCs!! I have no idea how many CCs. Based on paperwork and the vehicle the pump came from my best guess is that it was factory spec for a turbo IP--this was not a high quality rebuild from a known vendor. I haven't had a chance to go out and really put...

Retuning a turbo spec IP to N/A?

I've almost got things where I want but was interested in how much adjustment is needed on the torque screw, or whatever the appropriate name is, to get close to N/A specs? I turned down the internal fuel screw behind the access door but I still had way too much fuel and only about 3/4 inch of...

Aftermarket #1 injector line & timing problems

I have an aftermarket injection line on #1 and cannot manage to get a stable reading. I've tried every little trick I know with no real success. By very subtle adjustments of the piezo clamp I can get a pretty stable idle RPM reading but when I go to 2k RPM I get fluctuations in degrees and...

    Dana 60 question.

Yes Loc-tite! I use the blue and the orange Loc-tite on lots of things without causing much difficulty during disassembly. So far I haven't needed the red. It is weird that those bolts would simply back out on their own. I would double check the u-joints for play. I had a sudden vibration...

    Glo club control modual

It's your time and money, but a lot of us ditched the factory setup in favor of the push button manual GPs. It sounds like either the controller is faulty, many bad plugs, or harness is trashed in some place. The controller only senses resistance in the system and that's how the length of the...
