    If the push-button is a "hack job", why not re-wire and re-mount is much more professionally and stay with the push-button ?? A push-button is far more trouble-free and much more useful than the consumeristic key-switch start. :)

    That is true for the older non-electronic controllers. However, on an electronic controller, there is some voltage at the BRAKE wire at all times; because, when no trailer is plugged in, the little GREEN light is not lit; as soon as the trailer is plugged in, the GREEN light comes on. :)
