    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Here in lies the slight problem...as my truck is down I can't get to the store to get the JB quick set. I do have the standard JB Weld (cure time 15-24 hours) I can set up a heat lamp to speed up cure time. I also have Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket Sealant Also, Permatex Ultra Gray and...

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Ok ya got me there but i know how the o-ring failed...when tightening the large filter nut I noticed the heater assembly also turned a little bit. This must have forced the o-ring to one side thus compromising the seal. There was no was to stop the heater assembly from turning a slight bit. Oh well!

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Hole tapped looking to seal the plug...I'm guessing diesel fuel will eat Teflon tape or pipe dope, and what about Ultra Gray silicone? If I use JB Weld I have to wait 24 hours for it to cure.

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Well, I replaced both O-rings, to change out the inner o-ring the heater was a mother to get out of the filter housing. Put it all back together and fuel is exiting up and out of the center metal connector. So, off it's coming and I'm plugging it.

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Not sure yet, I have a feeling the top plastic plug will indeed break off and if so I'll just tap and plug it. I do have the 1/2" tap but the threads are 13 vs 14. After 27 years I'm sick of the smell of diesel fuel.

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Dammit...sure enough, the recent cold weather snap got that fuel heater to leaking...looks like I gotta get in there. And I just installed a new fuel filter when I replaced the o-ring in the lower water sensor sending unit.

Motorcraft Fan Clutch at Rock Auto $90

Actually, never had a real overheating problem as I don't even tow my boat anymore...my rad issues was it was leaking and once I pulled the old one out it was visibly leaking from several areas! I have the tool to remove the big fan clutch nut...unless it overheats 'running around local' I'm...

    New Radiator in!

I'm sure it will last, maybe not as long as the original brass-copper rad or the second Modine brass copper rad did but, plastic tank rads have been in use for a long time. A new brass copper is available for $600...one year warranty To have my old Modine B-C recored would be $600 with only a...

    New Radiator in!

Actually my year Vette and its computer were designed to live at 231...but other Vette owners say heck with that and did mods to get the temps down around 180. Anyhow, so far so good.

    New Radiator in!

1/2 the thickness true, so was the aluminum replacement that went in my Corvette...on the hottest day running the AC the coolant temp never got close to what it did with the brass copper. That's a plus for efficiency ;Sweet

    New Radiator in!

Yesterday I installed the Advance Auto radiator (new hoses too)...even with plastic tanks gotta say I was impressed with the build quality, its lighter weight and it dropped right it. Looking inside the coolant-flow passages are huge! If I had to point a finger at it, I believe the filler...

    Found My Slight Fuel Leak...

Well, reversing the o-ring on the water sensor seems to have worked! People are condemning the OE top mounted fuel heater and I get heat won't migrate 'down' into the filter but I just wonder (thinking outside the box)...what if the top mounted heater 'may' help if there are some crystallized...

    Found My Slight Fuel Leak...

Oh, and this was the first time I ever filled the fuel filter with ATF...engine fired right up and was hoping to see some heavy smoke...nothing, but it was sure quiet!

    Found My Slight Fuel Leak...

I actually though about a little smear of Ultra Grey at that sender as it's designed for gear lube...however I thought for sure diesel fuel would dissolve it quickly. Now there is also a schrader valve pressed into the bottom cover too...I didn't want to mess with that!

    Found My Slight Fuel Leak...

Removed the fuel filter (time to change it anyhow)...removed the water separator and 9/16th plastic screw-in electrical connector that was barely hand tight. So, I unscrewed it to find the 0-ring was kinda compressed useless. Anyhow, not knowing what size the 0-ring is (and if anyone knows...

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Well, for sure the filter is weeping from the fuel filter separator. Maybe a compromised 0-ring or the it's weeping at the electrical connection. Anyone use Pentius fuel filters?

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Possibly but, usually when a return o-ring or rubber line or olive goes bad there's a good tell-tail sign of wetness. All those appear dry. And again the underside of the fuel filter water separator left my hand wet when I felt around under it.

    Fuel Filter Heater 7.3 Info?

Huh, sprayed the heater top with brake clean and let it dry...ran the truck and no visible leak. HOWEVER...at the bottom of the water separator noticed a drip and wet my hand, it may be weeping from the water drain valve. No idea if that valve or the water sensor plug has issues...but...if...
