A couple few v belt brackets later, power steering pump and ac compressor are installed. Swapped power steering pump to a dual port reservoir and plumbed it to the hydro boost, ready to bleed brakes in the morning.
That pump wasn’t reman by cat, the pump builder used a cat pump tag and stamped the stanadyne info on it. If it spins freely and metering valve isn’t stuck should at least run.
Not sure what you mean by this, the db2s in our idis are specifically built for on road use both in the governor design and advance system which are variable with rpm and load because of the flyweight system, in fact these pumps’ ability to vary timing with load is what made them more fuel...

After getting the transfer case in it was pretty crowded on the driver frame rail, fuel filter bracket would be in the way if the driveline had to be serviced so flipped the bracket around and spaced it so the e brake cable passed behind the filter head...
Flywheel, clutch, trans and t case installed. Sitting on the old c6 X member for now until the 4x4 X member comes in.
Mocked up the turbo and pedestal to check clearance to the firewall, had to just tap in an area around the top of the cold side and file an edge off one of the bosses on top of...
Engines in the truck, swapped the head gaskets over to the modded turbo gaskets and checked everything out after running it on the stand. Valve to piston still looked good after running it so back together it went. Left the pretty modded intake off and turbo kit to make installing the engine...
Its an odd one for sure, Im betting on piston related damage with the blowby amount but getting some compression numbers would tell a good bit. Hoping for a straight forward rering!
X2 for checking the cdr, I would add check the turbo as well but a compression test would show a lot. How long on the oil change date/mileage, and what oil are you using?
I don’t believe he’s on the forum anymore, but I’ve talked to the builder on Facebook a few times, I don’t believe he’s making them anymore unfortunately.
Also could use a pressure transducer in the glow plug hole, that would give you great data on how much each cylinder is contributing and sealing. I plan on doing something similar with the race truck, but the hardware isnt super cheap.
Looks like hes just making sure both pumps are contributing fuel at idle, not really how I would set it up I would think it would be much easier to run one pump for idle and set the other pumps idle speed at 5-600 rpms so its defueling at regular idle speed and only one pump is doing the idle...
We were discussing a potential sponsorship and having the truck down here to film some episodes doing some performance work, but it sounds like they lost interest or couldn’t because of Covid because I quit hearing back from them.
Tip on oil coolers and getting those flange gaskets to not leak... bolt on the whole assembly once dry without any gaskets and it will rotate in the cooler pack slightly to get both ends flat on the block, if you do this first try with the gaskets on there it tends to pinch em, so pull it back...
