    Backpressure on exhaust

You can talk and dream about all types of exhaust, stainless, etc. But where are you going to get this done? It's not cheap. I do my own exhaust work, so I use the stock stuff you get from Walker muffler. Stock exhaust with a glasspack is not too loud. Someone had split the exhaust on my...

Accurate Diesel - ‘86 6.9 Glow Plug Controller Upgrade

The 7.3 system, which my truck is supposed to have, has it's problems also. Your old style controller used the coolant temp to adjust the glow time. The 7.3 controller monitors the current the glowplugs are using, and uses this amp value to control the glow time. This is all well and good...

Accurate Diesel - ‘86 6.9 Glow Plug Controller Upgrade

I don't know why everyone is afraid of the manual button. That is all they had on old tractors, skid loaders, etc. in the old days. You turned the key backwards for a period of time, or you turned the key forward without starting for a period of time. Not sure if Kubota ever went with a...

Fixed One Electrical Issue and Got Another

Here's a diagram for a 86. It looks much the same as my 89.

Fixed One Electrical Issue and Got Another

What year are you working on. I know on my 89, the "brake" light will come on when the vacuum switch triggers on low vacuum. And my "engine" light comes on when the temp gauge pegs and it thinks the engine is hot.

    Electric Fuel Pump Control

This diagram shows where the red/lightgreen comes from off the ignition switch. It's all the way on the left of the diagram.

    Electric Fuel Pump Control

What? The red/lightgreen is hot in start AND run. I run my electric fuel pump off the wire that goes to the brake warning switch sensor (vacuum sensor). I do not know what year you have, this diagram is for a 86.

gas cans, do you think this guy is right?

It does work. Problem is, you can't keep the acetone from evaporating from the ATF. Notice he keeps it in "sealed cans". If you put it in a squirt can so you can use it, a week later you are just squirting ATF.

Replaced glow plug relay with White Rodgers, still doesn't work.

Go over to the dark side and just put a pushbutton in like someone else said. Nothing worse to be in the middle of winter and you have a job to do, and the glowplug controller just clicks on and off because there is one bad glowplug. I have started my truck in the winter with 3 bad glowplugs...

    Dually differences

So far, the only dually trucks you could get with 4x4 that we commonly know of were cab and chassis trucks. These are not pickup trucks. So no pickup trucks with dually and 4x4. Only cab and chassis dually 4x4 trucks, and a pickup bed will not bolt to them.

    Dually differences

All the 4x4 crew cab trucks where not dual rear wheel correct? That is, 1998-down.

    First Start Issue

I have stopped replying to these threads where these engines will not run after my last episode with my truck. I have found I just do not know enough about it. Mine got to where it would run for about a minute and then quit. I tried and tried to get it going, I had fuel at the schrader valve...

gas cans, do you think this guy is right?

Those aggravating type someone called "American" in a post above. I watched a guy on youtube, he took the nozzle off the can, took the rubber gasket off the nozzle, slid the thing apart and took that spring out. Then he put it back together. I tried it, works much better without that heavy...

    Glow Plug Wire Connector Replacement

Before you do all that, I was thinking of just putting shrink wrap on the original connector. I think that is the main problem, the plastic that holds tension on the original connector crumbles away and the original connector loses tension. Do you think the shrink wrap would restore this...

    Holly Red Pressure test Question

The pump will not stop, it runs all the time. The holley red has it's own regulator built in, and when it reaches 7 psi, it internally bypasses the excess fuel back to the intake of the pump. So the pump will always run. I do not know all the ins and outs of the ip on these trucks. But it...

    So I loaned the truck. .. .

My wife thinks flatbeds are ugly, and I have to agree. But I built a dump flatbed for my truck, and while it is a little ugly, I am appreciating how I can modify it and weld hold downs and other things to it to customize for my uses. Which are more truck uses, which a pretty original painted...

    ZF5 Question

I am not hip to messing with the oil in the ZF. Been there, done that. Different types of oils, over-filling the trans, etc. I have never seen any of it work, and I think it is unnecessary. I fill it to the proper level with the old Dexron and it works the best, cold weather and hot weather...

    Electric fuel pump wiring

Here is how Ford did it, this is a 1986 with a 460 and a single tank. "Hot in start fuse link T" is hooked to the "i" terminal of the starter relay.

    Electric fuel pump wiring

Why re-invent the wheel? Ford has this exact setup on the 460's with the hot fuel handling and electric pumps in the tanks (early trucks with carbs). Ford had a pressure switch that activated the relay. Just order a switch for a 1985 F250 or 350 with a 460. To run the pump before the oil...

    ZF5 Question

Is the drain plug magnetic? A lot of them are, can't remember about the zf. I think I would get some sort of pump and stop taking the shifter off to fill the oil. Looks like a lot of places to make a mistake. I have had good success with a pump like this that screws right into a gallon jug...

    Tires... Tires.... Tires....

I see they sell a 14 ply G load rated tire. You have to run 110psi in those tires, that is a lot. But I read they are rated 3100lbs each. Is that enough? Are you running the stock 235/85/16 tire?

    Chronic repeated mouse/rat problem

What I have to do sometimes with these traps also, is tweak them with needle nose pliers. If they are easy to set, then they are not very good. You want to bend the piece that holds the catch so you have to try and try to get it to set. And the you have to carefully set it down or it will go...

    83 6.9 Valvetrain Noise?

Sounds like normal diesel noises to me. If it gets louder as you step on the throttle going up a hill, it might be a exhaust leak. Otherwise, everything sounds normal to me in all 3 videos.

    Chronic repeated mouse/rat problem

Line the traps up side by side. They can't get to the middle one without stepping over the other ones. Then see what happens.
