    LUK/Exedy 07076 clutches

My 6.9 solid flywheel was easy to get to. There are no locating pins. Being 6 holes they arent directly across the diameter. The diameter of the machined surface is 14 7/8. The holes are 1" from the edge so bolt circle would be 12 7/8. ctc of mounting holes is between 3 1/2 and 3 9/16 or about 3...

    Aftermarket fuel filter locations

I use it as a primary filter and still have the stock 6.9 filter as my final filter. I found the 445 on a truck in the junkyard. I don't know how well the primer pump works as I haven't used it.

    Aftermarket fuel filter locations

I am running a Racor 445 filter head with a 30 micron filter on the firewall in place of the stock FWS. It has the clear bowl and drain valve. It even fits the mounting studs used for the original . So far (11k) no issues using a mechanical fuel pump.

http://turtleexpedition.com/vehicles/vehicles- Check out this page. The Turtle III and Turtle IV were powered by 7.3 IDIs. It looks like the current version uses a 7.3 Powerstroke.

    Block heater

This is what it looks like on the back side. The T bar holds it like a toggle. The Screw that holds the bar is not supposed to come all the way out. As you turn the screw it will start getting harder to turn when you reach the end of the threads. If the screw comes out the T bar will fall in the...

    Help!!! Random cut wires

The switch that controls the high idle plunger also internally advances your injection pump. That is the rear of the two wires on your pump. It sounds like the switch is working properly. Mine shuts off when the coolant reaches 130* The plunger can be adjusted by threading it in or out with a...

    Help!!! Random cut wires

The 6.9 fuel filter does not include a water separator. The 7.3 changed this and incorporated a fuel/water separator into the fuel filter and eliminated the separator on the firewall. The 6.9 and 7.3 filter heads have different threads so the filters aren't interchangeable. You can bypass the...

    oil pan replacement

Be sure to tie a string to your wrench. I dropped a couple wrenches in the pan before I figured that out. A removable cross member maybe.

    Nice to be here!

The '87 6.9 uses the updated solid state controller used on all the 7.3s, so I assume the glow plugs would be bullet connectors. The Wellmans aren't so bad. I ran them for a couple of years (though with a push button control) and they came out no problem. I don't know how well they work with the...

    schaweeeet!

I have a Baby Moose. I discussed this with Mel trying to decide between The Baby and Junior. He said I could turn the fuel up on the Baby Moose, but turning fuel down on the Junior would mess up the calibration. So far I have'nt changed the fuel screw as I am at altitude and already low on air...

    Is my Blocks Life Over?

What is the status of your spare engine? Is it in a truck that runs? I would imagine in your area you could buy a running truck and swap in the engine. I agree it would be ideal to have your truck running while you rebuild another engine. I ran mine for a year with a head gasket leaking coolant...

    Help!!! Random cut wires

The controller is in contact with the coolant and only powers the glow plugs if the coolant is below a set temperature, 165* I believe. Once warmed up these engines fire off easily without glow plugs. I'll be interested to see how well the controller holds up.

    Valley pan install

Here are the instructions that came with my valley pan. Those coolant ports were plugged in model year '89 according to the instructions. I had my machine shop thread them and install pipe plugs because I didn't want to deal with the potential for leaks there.

    Help!!! Random cut wires

Accurate Diesel sells a replacement for the original 6.9 controller that is solid state and plug and play. It is a direct replacement (threads into DS head).
