    Ray-Wel High Flow Intake System?

That lid looks like a great way to funnel water into your intake.

    Began the 6.9 upgrade

The problem with removing the pump and housing together is the difficulty of putting them back in correct timing. Once removed as a unit, the pump and gear are free to rotate. The timing mark between the cam gear and pump gear can't be seen with the front engine cover in place. If you want to...

Realistic budget of a 2wd -4wd and goodies build

When the '86 and earlier system is bypassed with a push button the controller is no longer in use, so it should not be needed. Maybe there is more to it with the upgraded solid state system. My WTS light comes on whenever I power up my system. I think it was someone on FTE that wired up an...

Fitment Question: Hypermax Turbo and factory airbox/filter

I have a Hypermax kit and I am using the factory air filter housing. I had to shim the intake casting up to clear the injector lines. There isn't much extra space. I still have the underhood pad and it is against the top of the air filter housing. I am running a cowl intake but don't see why the...

    Low oil pressure

I did swap my dash. I had dealer installed AC which I removed. My old dash was pretty hacked. The dealer install ( at least I think it was) included cutting in a vent above the glovebox.

    Low oil pressure

Here is my setup for slantnose. 2" ABS fits 2" gauges. I cut it to angle to aim gauges.

    Low oil pressure

Make sure you have a good electrical connection at the sender. It is just a push on connector. Several times I have had what seemed like low pressure reading that was due to the poor connection. The sender is at the top rear of the block.

Cant get new block heater in!!

Don't bother with the Kats one from NAPA. It wouldn't fit without bending the element, so I returned it and got the Zerostart from O'Riellys. It looks like oem and went in without a problem.

    Westach dual gauges?

I fit three gauges above my radio. I cut 2" ABS pipe on an angle to improve the view. I don't have AC so put the fourth gauge in place of one of the vents.

    6.9 head gasket

6.9 has coolant passages at the corners that are blocked on 7.3. The 6.9 head gasket has openings there that the 7.3 does not. Edit: Found the thread with a comparison picture courtesy of Icanfixall...

    pistion suggestions and questions...

http://www.calicocoatings.com/ I sent my pistons to these guys. The machine shop I used recommended them. I had the CT-2 ceramic on tops and CT-3 on skirts. Cost was $322 three years ago. They are in North Carolina, so shipping both ways was $70 or so. Their turn around is fast, 2 or 3 working...

New Here -- Looking to join the club (With a 6.9 IDI)

An '86 6.9 engine would be better than an '83. The earlier ones had issues with the block cracking in the area of the block heater if the block heater is used. The later blocks are a better candidate for a rebuild because the oil cooling jets are bolted in rather than pressed in.

Air filter relocated and RDT thoughts?

I doubt if the Dodge has been seen running in years. It is a complete roadster with a cloth top and cracked blue paint. The engine isn't frozen, but hasn't run in a long time. Nice pack rat nest in the trunk.

Air filter relocated and RDT thoughts?

Neighbors last name is Schembri. Not sure on spelling. My neighbor went there and pulled a 1929 Dodge out of his Dad's place and brought it up here. It should be going back if things are looking OK.

Air filter relocated and RDT thoughts?

I ran a catch can using a Goldenrod filter between the Banks adapter and the CDR. Goldenrod has a stainless strainer that can be used in place of the filter element. I added a stainless pot scrubber around the strainer, done after this photo was taken. I am catching quite a bit of oil. Some...

    Anything to be concerned about?

Those prices from Ford seem correct. The front seal rides on the shaft of the damper. You will need to pull the damper and see if it needs a sleeve. You can buy a sleeve or look on Rock Auto for a seal and sleeve combo. If you haven't already bought from Ford you may get a seal/sleeve for the...

What is a normal cold start like?

A word of caution using the block heater, the early 6.9 blocks are prone to cracking in the area of the block heater. The later 6.9 reinforced the block heater area (mid 85 I think). Have you checked the glow plugs? They should be Motorcraft (Beru) brand. Other brands are known to swell and are...

N/A 7.3 Lack of Power? Bad Timing, Worn IP?

It could be as simple as a stretched or defective throttle cable. Have someone press the accelerator pedal all the way and check if the linkage at the IP has more movement left unused. I had an aftermarket cable that had too much space between the stop and anchor at the pedal, so did not get...

    getting the sludge out.

You could put it together, then run it with some Auto-Rx to clean the internals. I know it sounds like snake oil, too good to be true, etc. I have no association with the company, but I did run a cycle of it in my original 6.9. It seemed to reduce oil consumption. I never took before/after...

    Value of parts

I remember you had some Hypermax parts in the marketplace some time ago. If they are still available I would be interested. Sorry to hear about your accident. I was in an accident that totaled my "86 F 250 IDI five years ago. I needed one fusion of C5 and C6 as a result. Things will improve but...
