    Leaking Line To IP

The fitting on #1 is a timing adapter for pulse timing. All the lines have to be the same length, so #1 is shorter because of that fitting. Someone else may know if those adapters have any use now other than taking up the space. Vans have the adapter on #4 and a corresponding shorter line. If...

    86 Turbo IDI Build

Just checked online, O'Reilly has one for $20 and Napa closer to $30. I have heard the genuine Motorcraft (Ford Dealer) are the best quality, but that may no longer be the case. I grab them when I see them in the junkyard if they are OEM. It is still a crap shoot going used. If you get no click...

I have heard of cases where the oil pump pickup tube cracked. Not easy to check on that one. Stuff like this is my worst nightmare.

    86 Turbo IDI Build

Jump a hot wire to the terminal your push button goes to (red). You should hear the relay click, and the large terminal with wires going to glow plugs should get 12v. I think the small black wire on that side goes to the wait to start lamp. The wire going to the terminal behind the radiator hose...

1986 6.9 IDI leaking oil. HELP!

Does the truck have a turbo? Some turbos get the oil feed from that side of the block. There are three 1/8 pipe thread plugs on that side that go to oil galleys. Unlikely leaking from a plug, but could be an oil feed line if you have a turbo.

    Leaking Line To IP

The Diesel Store sells line clamps. I bought one from them but the spacing didn't work for me. The way my lines are shaped I have three lines clamped together in both locations on the drivers side.

    Leaking Line To IP

http://thedieselstore.com/ These guys sell individual lines for $50 each. You may be able to get an entire set from a junk yard for less than that, but your time is what it is. You might check the market place here. Cylinders are numbered 1,3,5,7 from front on pass side, and 2,4,6,8 on drivers...

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1123673-dyno-day-v1.html Here is a thread from FTE that has cam comparisons if you can figure out what the graphs are showing. I think R&D has more than one cam now, so I don't know which one he was running at that time.

Give Mel at Conestoga a call. I don't know how far away Willow Street is from you, but he can mail you some olives. He is the vendor selling the stainless line in the ebay ad. http://conestogadiesel.com/products.html

    Began the 6.9 upgrade

Here are the instructions that came with my gasket set. I torqued my head studs to 80 ft-lb per ARP instructions. I didn't loosen and tighten. Using the ultra torque lube I believe a greater clamping force is achieved than stock head bolts. I didn't over torque. I know some folks do that, but I...

    Leaking Line To IP

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought it was the line from the fuel pump to the filter head. Pretty easy fix, remove line, replace olives (5/16 both ends), replace line. You will have air in the lines afterward, so some cranking will be necessary to get it to fire.

    Leaking Line To IP

Nice fleet. I doubt you will find that line anywhere but a junk yard. Can you tell where it is leaking? The bottom fitting is just a flare and the top uses an "olive" on the line to seal. The olive is like a short section of hose on the line inside the fitting. An injection shop should have...

    6.9 rebuild

Check the block number at the top front of block and compare to the list. The later blocks have bolt in piston cooling nozzles, the earlier ones are press in, and not as simple to deal with. The earlier blocks have been known to crack in the area of the block heater if the heater is used when...

    Spindle Nut Socket Size?

While tec-worthy, I don't think we should immortalize the prior 9 pages of drama. Maybe Riot could do a 101 thread with the same info. Maybe someone with the clicker style locknut on a D-44 could add that info.

    Air Filter Hold down Bolt

The picture doesn't work. There is a hex head nut that holds the intake screen to the intake, and the air cleaner bolt threads into it. You should be able to remove the nut with the stud together. The torque on that hold down nut is 45 ft-lb and thread locker is supposed to be used on it, so be...

Harland Sharp rockers for the IDI

Can they be swapped left to right on the shaft? Not seeing them in person I don't know how they are put together. I'm sure if it was that easy you would have already done that.

7.3 IDI Rocker Arms removal and instillation

I took a picture of my grimey spare engine. You can see the timing mark (groove) on the damper just above the timing plate. TDC mark is on the timing plate at the lower tube, marked with white. If it was clean you could see the line and "0". When the damper groove and "0" on plate are aligned...

7.3 IDI Rocker Arms removal and instillation

11:00 or 20* from vertical looks like it would be rotated past the timing plate. It does seem like a wild ass guess to some degree to get exactly 11:00 without a protractor, and def more difficult with the engine in the truck.
