The 89 lipstick on a Pig

the best part of this thread is he went from this, "Dont need big power anymore" to buying head studs and looking at a girdle for his Turbo block build within a month. LOL The bug to build a truck gets all of us. From what I have read you really dont need a block girdle unless you are making...

    Jesus Freak's WMO tow truck

does the ZF5 that came out of the tow truck have the parking brake on the back of it? I guess another way to ask that is, is the tow truck a f superduty, or is it based on a f-350? If it does, you can replace it with a transfer case, and even if you don't have 4x4, you can use it just for the...

2nd blown oil filter gasket and coolant mixing with oil? Help with isolating the causes?

I just mentioned that because he has coolant mixed with oil, Just wondering if it was showing up in his cooling system. If its mixing from a blown headgasket, I would think it would show in the cooling system, but strange things can happen. My oil filter leaks from the same spot. No matter how...

2nd blown oil filter gasket and coolant mixing with oil? Help with isolating the causes?

are you getting any bubbles in your radiator? or mixing in the radiator? wouldn't a blown headgasket more likely show up there because of the higher pressure of the oil pushing into the lower pressure of the cooling system? can you do a compression test?

    Jesus Freak's WMO tow truck

This!!! I dont know who decided you needed to go 30mph in reverse, but not be able to back up a trailer in a truck, but the reverse in the ZF5 is terrible. Any size trailer or any hill I am backing up I put it in 4 lo. way more control and no more burning clutch.

    Econoline battery group 65 "conversion"?

My brother has a Sportsmobile 4x4 econoline. both batteries were moved to the frame rail. Kind of a pain to swap them, but a ton of room to run whatever batteries you want. cant help you with what will fit in the engine compartment, but sounds like the group 45 is a good start. hopefully it...

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

LOL I was looking at the picture and I was thinking that is not a dually bed, what is he thinking? did he put up the wrong picture? then I realized its not the white bed in the picture, its the one that perfectly blends into the darkness and can only be seen at an angle. LOL cant wait to see...

    Cheapest wmo setup

I have a '05 expedition with the 5.4 in it. It has been an amazing engine. we are at 223,000 miles and have never had anything major replaced on the motor, or the vehicle for that matter. We have replaced spark plugs and coils, and a starter. Just stay up on oil changes. Obviously your truck...

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

Love seeing this come together. I would have been more interested in a DT swap just because so many people start and never finish those. BUT this is going to be a sweet rig when its done. As much as Dodges suck, the motor they came wrapped around is one stout piece of equipment and can make a...

    1965 Cadillac Devidi

I have a fantasy of taking an old station wagon like a Country Squire and stuffing one of the new 7.3 godzilla motors in it!! A 7.3 IDI in one would be fun too. On the other hand a big Lincoln Continental land yacht would be sweet too.

    Stripped injector base?

I haven't heard of stripped injector threads in the head before, but that doesn't mean it cant happen. Usually it is a poorly seated washer, or a double stacked washer. Sometimes guys forget to get the old washer out before putting the new one in. Sometimes there is a lot of carbon build up...

Man you did go all out!! that is great. I am glad to hear it is working out like you had planned. nothing worse than spending a boat load of money and it not working out the way you want. Hope it serves you well for years to come.

    Decisions.....Decisions.....35's or 37's??

Nice looking truck, I like the color and wheels. the 37s turned out good. So did you stick with the ALCAN springs? what else besides gears did you do to the suspension and axles?

HFT vs. Jegs for IDI Engine Stand

off topic but how do you have your valve cover breathing tube routed? and how does it work? I am really tired of my intake and turbo being covered in a film of oil.

    1965 Cadillac Devidi

I agree C6 is a good transmission. I had one in a f250 with the 460. thing was bullet proof. I was just thinking that having the overdrive in the Cadillac would be nice. to me it seems like more of a cruising car that is not going to do a lot of towing. (maybe you have a different idea for it...

Dude Insurance companies are the **** of the earth. You pay them month after month for years, and then when it is finally time for them to hold up their end of the bargain they try everything under the sun to get out from it. I was rear ended in my first IDI, the '94 in my sig. on the freeway...

Dreaded ATS OEM Turbo Up-pipe slip joint leak has killed my boost 2022 edition.

Yeah I am not a welder, but I assume expansion and contraction is the point of the slip joint. That is why @IDIoit uses a bellowed section. I just have talked with the guys at CDD to see if they had a product to fix this problematic joint and they said they have just welded them up in the past...
