I never personally met Calvin but I feel like i have. I always knew if towcat was posting it was always going to be some useful info. He was an encyclopedia of idi knowledge. My condolences to his family. He will be missed
A follow up to my earlier post. Changed out the FSV . I went with the spendy one that is supposed to be OEM. I dropped the front tank to check on the shower head and everything was intact surprisingly . I also pulled apart the old FSV to see if somethingmight have got pulled in from the tank...
That's good to know . All the fuel tank components are original so I'm not surprised things are worn out. I tried switching back and forth and my fuel gauge just stayed on full. My return is totally blocked so the truck just keeps dying . Is it just a matter of.rplacing the valve
Along this same topic I went to switch from my forward tank to the rear tank yesterday and thought all was good. The needle moved reading full. Not long after the truck started to die. Realized something had gone wrong with my selector valve so I filled up the empty tank to pull off that ...
I'm with riotwarrior. Just had mine replaced for about two bills. They wire brushed and primed the frame. I had some rust from a previous install so that was pretty important. I had already pulled the trim for them and they reinstalled the trim for me with new clips. They guaranteed no leaks if...
Pop testing is definitely a good idea. You are definitely going to want to replace all 8 at the same time if it's determined they might be a problem . I bought Stage 1's from R&D and have been really happy . You won't have to pop rest those.
I did. I had heard some people had trouble with them being a bit long. Not sure how I missed it. It was easy to fix with a quick buzz on a grinder. None of them were more than 3/16 to long. Definitely something to be aware of though as I found out.
Hi all ! Just wanted to follow up on my issues. Finally had a chance to dig into the engine, turns out I had a broken rocker arm on #1. While everything was apart i checked all push rods and glow plugs. All good. However, I did notice that all my rocker assemblies were resting on my head...
Yeah ,all Motorcraft GP's . I thought about some thing like that. Hopefully that's not the case with a tip breaking off. The noise is every revolution so I'm not sure if it's the thermostat.
Thanks franklin2. Not a bad idea. I think in will try that. I really hate to run the engine at this point for fear of doing anymore damage. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it's really a bad sound. If I plug in the block heater I can have it already warmed up so less time running. I like the idea of...
Thanks hoodshauler. I put the original push rods back in as they were all good. I had also read that the lifters would be able to adjust to the difference should they take some off the heads. I'm not sure how much if any they took off the heads. I know they decked the block, but everything...
I did have the heads redone. Not sure exactly what was done with the valves, but I don't recall hearing about any upgrades other than the valves springs, which was done
Thanks you guys! No,it does not sound good at all. Definitely not a sound you want to hear coming from your engine compartment. I was wondering if it could be a lifter or some thing. Would it make a sound like that if your exhaust valve was sticking closed. I have limited experience diagnosing...
Also, fluids looks good. Nothing seems to be leaking from anywhere. The frequency of the noise increases with rpms. It’s darn sure loud when you are up close to it
Hi all! Need to call on this great pool of knowledge again. Drove my truck down to the store this morning, all was normal. Started it back up after setting for no more than 5 minutes it fired and ran with a loud thumping sound I thought coming from drivers side. It is a deep thump not metallic...
I second getting hold of Justin. Always answered my questions quickly and throughly. Both banks need to have a return, as well as the IP. Conestoga has some great diagrams ,if you haven’t already found them on this site
Thanks all for the great info. Always helps to hear first-hand what's working and whats not. The jury is still out. Does it make sense to replace any other components while replacing the steering box. I would be inclined to leave well enough alone since everything else seems good, but ......
If I end up changing out the box, what brand would you guys suggest? I know the Red Heads have been popular ,but it sounds like there have been some quality control issues. Not really sure what else is out there other than the OEM replacement. Curious what people have had the best luck with.
Thanks for the response guys. I'll check into it a bit further. I know it's the stock steering box, and with the truck having 200,000+ miles, it's quite possible it's getting tired. I have put about 30000 miles on the truck with minimal issues but who knows how it was treated earlier in its...
Hi all! Having some issues with power steering. Turns like normal to the left, but turning to the right it feels like there is no power assist. Which is kind of sucks trying to maneuver a four door long bed in and out of a parking lot. The truck is a 91 F-350 4wd. The trucks tracks fine down the...
Hi there! I did a triple gauge pillar mount with all Glowshift( boost,EGT, water-temp) . So far they have worked great. Install was pretty staight forward especially with the triple gauge wiring harness they offer. I did a Summit mechanical oil pressure gauge t-eed off the stock sensor location...
