I had one instance of those springs letting go on one side of my F350. Fixed it with new hardware and never happened again. My E350 and Dodges have those drum brakes too, yet no similar issue has come up for about 15 years now.
Referring back to post #8, the ring or pinion had shed a tooth and wedged between the tone ring and ring gear. It caused a blip in the signal every revolution and the trans didn't behave as a result.
Never know what can happen. It's at least worth pulling the sensor and using it as a view port...
I thought the diff signal fed into the PCM, and then processed/routed for speedo, trans, ABS.
This is just my loose recollection from when I had my '97 E350... I was messing around with changing the gauge cluster.
The E4OD depends on the diff signal being proper to shift properly.
I worked at a shop 25 years ago where we changed the trans for acting funny. That fixed nothing. It turned out it was the diff tone ring that was damaged.
The actual problem with the factory front shackle is how Ford built it. They recycled the TTB arrangement, which needs to pivot. With a monobeam (i.e. Dana 60) it doesn't need to pivot. Here's an alternative...

The vin # seen thru the base of the windshield is something you need think about. Needs to match your registration/title.
What do you mean by a big cab? Supercab? Crew cab? (Doesn't matter if both the same).
I agree with the sentiment, but that is NOT a hard spec. If it were, it would be stamped on the door-jamb decal along with the gvwr.
The highway cops here will check your axle/pin weights against your gvwr, gawr, tire capacities, and hitch rating; if you are licensed/insured for that weight...
My best recollection from my auto-wrecking days is the F250 frame/crossmember difference stems from the gvwr. Above/below 8500#.
Say you have a 5.0L or the semi-float rear axle, then it's a low GVWR. The diesel fits the high GVWR frame.

Shouldn't have to worry too much as 460, diesel, and 351w came in the same frames.
Personally, have seen the pickup frames fold up from hard use, so I would look for a cab & chassis frame if you couldn't care less about the pickup bed.

'94-95 are tough year examples because they made the G30HD with rear disc, tilt nose, and 19.5" wheels. Is that in your FSM too?
Also with GM, diesels always got hydroboost.

It would not surprise me if that was used on both vac and h-boost; and the listing is wrong.
We parted out a lot of 1ton Chevy vans back in my wrecking yard days (church vans and dually cube vans) - all rear drum. None used the MC39309 master... It's an easy one to spot.
The master you posted for the van with dual bore sizes and dual reservoirs seems van-appropriate. Never seen one of those on a pickup.

My JB8 braked '91 v3500 (hydroboost, SRW) shows a 1.31" bore. The '93 JB7 master (vacuum) i used was 1.25" bore.
The NMC11318 and MC39309 masters are for rear disc - check the other things it fits. I believe the G-van application for them (rear drum) is incorrect.
Edit: SRW can be 2.5 or 3.5"...
