Has anyone seen 3 leaf front spring on 4x4 F350

There's a loading difference with ttb vs monobeam due to the leverage. The ttb springs are going to be flatter with a D60.

    Rebuilding a 7.3 IDI Turbo

That scratch a tough one to argue fault. It can be a scrape from a prior HG replacement, engine rebuild, or any sort of rough-handling of the block by the shop, or yourself. Last time I had something machined (albeit heads), 0.005" was considered a minimum cut. I think I would try to use that...

2wd front ibeam axel swap question. NOT 4WD*

I can't say for sure. However, the body style of the vans and trucks didn't change for '95. On a 4wd, I know you can swap the knuckle, rotor, and caliper to accomplish the upgrade. You should try it and report back with results. :sly

Has anyone seen 3 leaf front spring on 4x4 F350

Doesn't sound weird. My buddy has a '93 or '94... multi-leaf overload, but i forget the count. Edit: I believe the rear GAWR is 8250# or similar.

Oil change without removing oil filter

A higher mile diesel saturates the oil with soot in a shorter time. I would lean toward the increased frequency, bulk oil, and cheaper filters. Rockauto often has clearance filters - many are old stock, from when more were USA-made.

Has anyone seen 3 leaf front spring on 4x4 F350

Those are the usual F350 C&C springs. F-Superduty had 3" wide leafs packs, mounted to beefy cast/forged hangers.

    My sources indicate a mid-year change.... 04/15/92.

    Swap to '03 SD Axles

The generic (GM based) PV4 valve is a commonly used on disc/disc swaps. Nothing extra - replace the old with the new. My understanding is the head pressure (elevation) does this job nowadays. Residual pressure valves are from back when the MC was under the floorboards.

    Rear axle questions

Sure. I used 80-90 with my powerstrokes, and continue to with my cummins trucks. If I was really concerned, I'd get 500-1000km on with 80-90 first. If all looks good, then reload with fancy lube.

    Rear axle questions

The 10.25" diff came out around '85? 80W90 is the original spec. Fancier oil specs have shown up in order to keep service intervals high as higher torque engines came about. For me, the moment I entertain some fancy oil, it's a hasty invitation for Murphy's Law to step in with a reason to...

    Rear axle questions

I wouldn't add the modifier until you've put some miles on it first - see if it actually needs it. If you blindly add it first, and it's already well-worn, you may defeat what grip it has left. I haven't needed to put modifier in a used posi diff yet.

Is this excessive play in the steering joints or not? '89 F-350 4x4

The norm for adjusters is to have both LH and RH threads. Otherwise they don't live up to their name. The short ends (x3009x) are RH. The two long pieces should be LH.

Is this excessive play in the steering joints or not? '89 F-350 4x4

Rockauto copies the terrible descriptions (verbatim) from the jobber's catalog. Don't shoot the messenger. You want the 4wd/monobeam parts. The 4200# criteria is for RWD/2wd. DS1068 and DS1071 says they are 1"-18tpi. Then I suspect you need two each of the x3009x TRE and x2012x adjusting...

    O'Reilly tie rods any good?

Just get a cheap one and grease it. (Avoid an undersized joint - check pics.) Even the cheap stuff lasts an incredibly long time with regular greasing. Quicksteer is the fanciest TRE I have bought in 20 years going.

    O'Reilly tie rods any good?

I've gotten some NOS stuff from rockauto. Made in USA. Lists as clearance items. I like moog's (value) Quicksteer line. Fullsize joints and greasable - unlike some jobber brands. Its all offshore manufacturing, so I'm not paying double for a brand with a bigger ego.

    Rear axle questions

Ford didn't use 3.73 really until 99+. That 'acorn' bolt head shape tells me the rear is a 10.25/10.5" rather than a Dana.

    Rear axle questions

If you plan to disturb the pinion, get a crush-sleeve eliminator beforehand. The factory traction aid is basically a Dana trac-lok. They are often ineffective. You might get some grip back with a good flush and leaving the modifier additive out.

Yes, reasonable. With time on my side, and lots of looking, $100-200 local deals usually turn up for me.

2wd front ibeam axel swap question. NOT 4WD*

Interesting. I wrecked out an '88 f250 diesel 2wd with balljoints. My point is the newer stuff could probably be swapped in and have easier alignment potential. Go to 95-97, there's better brakes too.

    Rear axle questions

Any SRW 10.25" with speed sensor should work. There is the semi-float version, that isn't rated as heavy (300/302 trucks). I think it's 93-94 or so the pinion and yoke are improved for more spline engagement. Wheel cyls and shoe widths... put in what you want/need.

2wd front ibeam axel swap question. NOT 4WD*

E350 is also twin i-beam. One of the alignment aspects is suspension height. Taller or shorter coil springs is effectively your camber adjustment. Around '87+, the beams use balljoints instead of kingpins. This allows for an offset bushing to dial in both camber and caster. While there are...
