If starting with no turbo, I would use something other than an 088 kit. They are the slowest spooling out of all kits I have had, and the integral exhaust housing/down pipe makes it impossible to change exhaust housing for better spool.
Intercooling does add performance, and an egt reduction...
The gasket squishes farther over time. If you notice, torquing most headbolts, the last little bit, the bolt starts to feel springy because it is stretching and is a spring. This should give clamp load even as the gasket squishes thinner over time.
While others on here have re tourqued the 6.9...
Have done lots of them that way, but would not recommend someone who had never pressed one together off of the truck to do it in the truck.
It can be done quite easily in the truck with the right block of wood and prybar to get ot perfectly square and pushed together.
My advise for the least...
But, you can still make much more boost and have it limit boost and drive pressure with a functioning wastegate.
Personally drove one for lots of miles with the stock wastegate can, adjusted closed tighter and some sort of inline piece that limited boost to the can......made 20psi pretty easily...
Curious where your timing is set, injectors and injection pump?
With maxxed turbo pump, turbo injectors, same turbo ( but bigger exhaust housing) 6.0 intercooler, egts were a non issue( like took the gauges out and used them in another truck) even loaded heavy in hot weather. Even had a modded...
Seems like there has always been drama there. Wonder if its intentional.......
Have used a couple of the blue top boxes in superdutys, and they have been awesome.
Yep, book time of around 13 hours. Factor in age, and 15hrs is a good starting point for most v engine head removal jobs.
The bigger the job, the more poorly the mechanic (shop still makes out quite well due to parts markup on bigger jobs) is paid. Most engine replacement jobs, as in replace a...
They are more difficult to work on some things, and much easier for others since you can get right at the back of the engine. Really the only thing than can be really difficult is right bank injectors.
I can delete my questions if you dont want this thread clouded up.
Do you have pictures of the up pipe installed with the zf5?
Have seen smaller exhaust housings that also had the slip fit piston ring style down pipe, but I think getting rid of that cast down pipe is a good way to go.
I...
I dont recognize that as ford wiring. Where does it come from?
Also, maybe I missed it, but did you get yhe tps adjusted to within the acceptable range?
Will always come down to gearing and the truck itself.
As far as dependability, the p pump 12v cummins is far superior to all diesel engine choices in the year range of pickups you are looking at.
Just to make it easier...lol.....lately doesnt matter what label is on the box, things like rear and front seals, head gaskets and a few others have all been the same stuff regardless of name on the package.
I have put a couple together without the dowels and it really sucks. Head bolts dont fit tight enough in the heads to reasonably locat the head to make sure the intake mates up correctly. And if you leave the headbolts loose and install intake to pull heads to where they need to be, sliding the...
